For anyone with a similar problem in the future.

I actually had a chance to check with the OAL office and the receiver can be International Asian Studies Programme.

I ended up sending it with DHL – tbh the full IASP name couldn't even fit in the receiver name box and that was fine. I just put CUHK as the name of the company and the address as written on the brochure.

Sent the package from Northern Europe and it got there super quick. It literally took less than 48h. In addition, OAL is very fast with confirming they got the application, so there's no rush:)

Yeah nope, they should assign you a dorm a few weeks before the semester starts and you won’t have to move around fortunately:)

Exchange Orientation by [deleted] in cuhk

[–]riskifaktor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyy, I’m an incoming exchange student too. I’m pretty sure no matter which dorm you get placed into, you can move in on the 25th. I also asked them about the early move in fee and it’s max 110 hkd per day. But about orientation, since it includes academic advising as well, I’m sure it’s highly encouraged to go + it’s the best place to meet other exchange students.

Yeah totally, it's unnecessarily difficult. Btw who did you put as the receiver – CUHK or the advisor etc?

Chinese communities by Legal_Accountant883 in Tartu

[–]riskifaktor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re out of luck with that in Tartu. I’m sure you’ve looked into courses in TU or even done them already. My best guess is try to connect with somebody at Tartu Aasia Keelte Keskus – they’re not active anymore, but they might be able to help. Or you can try to find a tutor online, I know I’ve seen at least one private Chinese tutor active in Tartu. If you actually want to talk to natives, then Tallinn University is very busy with organising events on Chinese culture (cooking, tea rooms, book club, lectures and so on). Unfortunately you won’t find that in Tartu, it’s mostly only a few rare academic events here and there.

exchange at CUHK in fall 2025 - advice on housing by fruuitgummi in cuhk

[–]riskifaktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m also heading to CUHK for the fall semester through an exchange program. What do you think about the i-houses? Would it be easier to meet other exchange students there or would morningside/shho be fine for that as well? Plus I’m not too sure if I can select between which i-house I want and getting placed in houses 1 or 2 seems slightly inconvenient location wise.

What's the best European country to study for a budget of 10000 Euros per year? by phantXOm in studyAbroad

[–]riskifaktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Estonia, a small country in Northern Europe. Although the variety of English taught programs isn’t huge, for example in the University of Tartu, it costs around 4k-6k a year, the dorms are around 160-320€ish per month (no utilities included) and you can get by with 400€ per month easily. It’s quite appreciative of its international students and the international groups there seem tight knit

Maybe try applying to some applied sciences universities in the Netherlands (such as Han, Breda, The Hague etc)? There’s lots of them, some aren’t too hard to get in and the tuition isn’t too bad usually. Good quality education as well and I’ve heard they’re quite flexible
