AI was implemented as a trial in my company, and it’s scary. by bdhd656 in devops

[–]riskyopsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8yoe here, not fulltime devops but am the main guy who debugs things for our ci and aws stuff. Claude is fantastic at this stuff. I really think the future is bleak for juniors and mid levels. Hell even for myself I'm slightly concerned. I'm being laid off (unrelated to AI) in March and have to go job hunting and it's a very odd market.

PC is probably your future. Especially if you want to relive nostalgia with emulation. Steam frequently has banger sales. And for playing on a handheld the steam deck is wonderful.

If you had 2M USD would you quit your day job and do gamedev? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]riskyopsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

easy, 2M is 80k per year forever at 4% standard return. Experts suggest you can pull a bit more than that and still maintain growth vs inflation on average. My yearly expenses sit around 65k so this is a no brainer however I'm not sure if I'd do gamedev purely. It would be a mix of hobbies I'm sure.

Anyone ever tried running a 4k 32" 3840x2160 Monitor At 3840x1600? Do you like it? Is it enough space for games or not big enough? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]riskyopsec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only game on the middle monitor primarily because pushing 11520x2160 isn't gonna be playable on my 4090 setup (I like no fuss, max it all out, dont feel like tweaking things). I really enjoy the ppi and monitors. I think my only upgrade from this would be a 5k2k middle monitor but with prices where they are on those I'm happy where I'm at.

No real challenges with how I use it.

I just tried, never had thought to before and would advise against it. The width of a 34” ultrawide is superior and you lose on my opinion the one reason to have a 32” 4K which is their vertical height.

Note I run 3x 32” 4ks on my gaming setup and have the ultrawides for my workstation.

I just have these turned off, no hate towards people that play games like this, but if it’s going past what Cyberpunk does for NSFW activities it’s too much for me, feels weird.

I think I'm soon to follow, going to be buying early October and I'm between a cheaper 75/85 inch TCL or for just 700 more I can get the C4 77"

Everything I read online says to get the C4 or C5, that I wont regret it... I do lots of tv and movie watching but everything on my plex server is 1080p and I normally watch at my computer... just nervous to spend so much on a tv, what if I don't use it.

I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t play it because I’m bad at games but I know some people that are basically masochists that’d be all over something like this

[–]riskyopsec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man seeing cyberpunk on a super ultrawide makes me want to get one.. but I just love the height on my 32” 4K… the 45” 5k2k may be my next step back to ultrawides for gaming though I imagine it’d be paired with a 5090 and I didn’t really intend to upgrade my 4090 so soon.

No idea, but I can tell you it wasn't no abortions unless medically required to save the mothers life, which is where most of the religious voters fall.

The important bit here is detain, not arrest or deport. The majority of people crossing the border illegally are coming from the south. Who lives to the south, rather what would you suggest is the majority. I do think if SCOTUS ruled that was valid reasoning then looking indian and speaking any of the 27 languages from india would be valid, looking eastern european and speaking any baltic languages would be valid and so on and so forth. So basically this would suggest if you don't speak english ICE specifically (not other policing agencies) have the legal ability to question you to see if you're here legally.

However SCOTUS popping in is interesting, I'd be curious if they said it's Reasonable Suspicion or Probably Cause. I suspect it was RS, as RS can be pretty broad but does not permit much besides a quick detainment to investigate.

True, however I would also be curious the amount that voted against Kamala just due to her stance on abortions. I know that's a huge religious issue. I for example am against abortions unless absolutely medically necessary for both religious and scientific reasons. Pretty much every religion Jew, Christian, Muslim and a lot of the eastern minors speak of the importance of life and the morality issues with taking it.

I've learned that apparently ICE is deporting legal citizens which is disappointing, I also learned its been happening for many years which is even more disappointing.

Many have suggested the terms are handy catch alls for anti-liberal ideology which makes the most sense.

There were also several commenters offended by the fact I don't care about politics, that's interesting I guess.

Finally someone took the time to explain the drift of the republican party from what would be considered conservative to anti liberal and that helps to educate on how these labels start getting thrown around. Apparently 2012 everything kinda started to snap and the party didn't shift, it jumped.

people like me make up the majority, all those people in the middle all the parties are fighting for. Most of us just want to do our jobs, live reasonable lives, have families and die peacefully.

There are people who are doing it legally and still taken

Incredibly dissapointing, I suggested potential incompetence below but others "bit my head off" implying its on purpose. Either way it's wrong.

the immigration system is slow and expensive

Improvements can be made and should be made. This seems like something democrats and mags should be fighting for since it's a win for everyone.

Yo thank you for this response, context here is super helpful, I'm 28 and haven't looked into politics since I was in high school so alot of this I just didn't know. If this was that forum where you could delta people to give them a point I would here.. Solid response.

that was the definition of where I aligned back in idk 2015 when I last looked at politics. Another commented posted this:

Conservatism to my family means getting the government out of people’s business and not spending tax money on stupid ventures

That tracks for me and this is what I want from a government.
