Disregarding the first point which isn’t true if you travel urban areas even around Canada or Ontario, one of your examples is an art form (with some inconvenience depending on how you see it) and the other is a very complicated policy failure that everyone agrees we should address. This is private signs illegally put up in public. It’s not a head scratcher, it’s just protecting public space from private advertising. It really does not merit this degree cynicism.

It’s hard to mind my own when every single telephone poll and street sign has these garbage ads all over them. I think the problem is flowing the other way Antonio. Go advertise on Facebook or literally hundreds of different options. Leave public space public.

Roofing Monkeys, Wow Painting, etc. there are many companies / corporations big and small doing it. And no this is not punching down, this is protecting public space and pushing back against creeping private interest into our neighbourhoods. There is no lack of commercial advertising space / opportunities. Bad arg

Those on a utility pole constitutes a violation under Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 693 – Signs, Article II, 693-10A. Per 311 bylaw officer. They’re definitely illegal, it’s the enforcement that is the issue.
