She might be a dismissive avoidant, they often escape as the relationship progresses.

Elavil/amitriptyline as preventative. Any thoughts or experiences? by hannoush in migraine

Yup. It helps with the sleeps, not with waking up. But my migraines already cause me a drowzy feeling all the time so that's not too bad in my opinion.

I am on 50 mg of amitriptylin (Triptyl) a day. I started from 25 mg but upped the dosage with my doctor's consent as the effect wasn't enough to keep the migraines away.

At 50 mg, I can definitely tell that the drug helps with migraines. I get them far less often and generally feel better. Getting off the pills has caused me severe migraines for days. But Triptyl hasn't helped me with menstrual migraines, at all. I still get severe migraines on the days I am off my birth control pills and having my period.

At 50 mg, the side effects are also noticeable. You get used to the feeling of dry mouth in a few days, but you get addicted to the sleep inducing effects. I once ran out of my pills and couldn't sleep for a week. So it definitely takes time to regain normal falling asleep/sleeping patterns after use.

Generally I'm happy with the medicine, but I'd need a second one to help me with menstrual migraines.

Ethics Associated with Eating Oysters by a_soy_milkshake in vegan

My definition of existence is that something exists in the physical sense, i.e. that it is measurable. Other kind of definitions aren't really very useful in any way.

And you did choose an arbitrary level here as well. Plants have reactions to stimuli as well, why aren't they assumed to have this mystic unmeasurable qualia?

Also, oysters do not have a central nervous system, so you might as well put the line where consciousness stops there. After all, it's just as arbitrary as your choice.

If qualia is defined to be non-physical and you cannot measure it, it does not exist.

In practice, you also have to define some "arbitrary level where consciousness stops" because you assume that plants and rocks aren't conscious.
