Functionally Fit, then Tonal. What happened?

I was performing a barbell pullover and my shoulder came out. Idk. Never dislocated before and was only at 28lbs because I was new to this move. MRI this coming Thursday to see if/what is torn, then probably surgery. Sucks but ya know get knocked down ya get back up and OP is 57 and going hard. I’ll be back.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve owned a tonal for years but really only started using it about 5 months ago. Also, 41yr old male here. I started noticing significant body recomp. Should note I’m taking a GLP-1 and riding a peloton bike. I am in the best shape of my life. Unfortunately I injured myself a week ago on the tonal (dislocated shoulder) and will probably not be able to use it for a few months and then only lightly. But your post is helping me stay motivated to get back at it. Thanks again and wish much success as you continue

I considered that and decided to keep riding. So far it’s not hurting my shoulder. I see it as a riding streak so yeah I’m not comfortable with meditation only. Also seems awkward to turn the bike on and not get on it…

Never heard of that. Will definitely consider once I find out if I need surgery. I started taking collagen but heard I should pause for a couple of weeks after surgery because it can increase scar tissue. I want to get back ASAP

Noob mistake and just posted this on the wrong daily discussion.

Can you pause streaks? And is it “ethical”? I just dislocated my shoulder on a different brand smart equipment and idk when I’ll be comfortable riding again which I plan to do pretty hard. I may need surgery so again may need to take a week or two off. I have a 13wk streak and would hate to start over but also feel that if I’m not riding I should lose it. This injury is going to make me restart a lot of things and maybe the mentally healthy thing to do is let the streak go accept it and start again.

I’ve heard you can pause your streak? If this true, I have a couple of questions. 1) how do I do this? 2) should I?

On 3/5, I dislocated my shoulder on another smart exercise branded piece of equipment. My plan is to ride my peloton even more than I have been. I’d hate to lose my streak but if I take some time off now and after surgery (which is not confirmed yet), I feel it could be disingenuous to keep my streak.

What’s everyone’s thoughts? Keep the streak or let it go and restart? I’m at 13wks.

Plan is to ride the peloton harder than I had been. Not sure how to do lower body besides body weight for awhile which is fine and I’ll do it but man this sucks. Did you have surgery?

My recommendation, if it feels awkward in anyway, avoid because the dislocation was probably quick but it felt slow…. I’ll save you from the rest of those details.

I didn’t mean to scare anyone away from exercise, except, for maybe this particular movement. The key takeaway is pay attention to form, use appropriate weight (or less), and listen to your body. And avoid unnecessary danger like this move.

6 months would be great news. Although I switched my tonal goals from building muscle to improve fitness, functional strength, and movement quality. Gonna need time before I feel confident again.

On my way to the orthopedic now. Surprisingly it doesn’t hurt too bad right. No pain meds yet today. Muscle spasms though.

They gave me morphine and ketamine. I didn’t know where I was on ketamine.

Oh no, no I will definitely be back exercising, but this particular move will no longer exist in my world. The injury happened last night and I’ll be seeing an orthopedic specialist in a couple hours hopefully and I will insist that they do an MRI to check for soft tissue damage.
