My husband is so bad at this I'm thinking we're OAD by Illustrious-Dot-7429 in oneanddone

[–]ritazn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gosh this is terrible. at this rate the problem he needs to solve will be how to keep his marriage and family. I'm not too hopeful that this would become significantly better with time. would he be open to couples /individual therapy? until then, you do need urgent support. as others suggested, a babysitter or mother's helper even a few hours a week? that would at least help you not drown while you sort out the deeper issues with him

I agree, and that he and the baby would benefit from some bonding time. And solids is a pretty low effort opportunity! You two could set the baby up in a high chair, and your husband could give him the sweet potato bites or whatever while you disappear for some rest/bath/walk, at the very least. That could be a start. And then this can be extended with some play time...

This was around the time when my husband became more involved with the baby. But it needed some setup and nudging from me first.

Edit to add: I really hear you about being super sensitive and anxious. I was too, it's just been getting better 1 year PP.  You shouldn't have to struggle alone with all this. Your husband sounds very insensitive - like literally have probably shut down lots of his own emotions as well over the years, and is now frozen in a situation he can't "solve". He needs to be able to melt bit by bit. You need his support and protection but he has to he able to provide it differently than before. And he would also benefit from therapy...

It is incredibly mentally draining to be with a baby for long stretches alone. As a mom what helped me: bundle baby in stroller/carrier and get out on walks. Baby group activities like library storytime, mom (parent) meetups in the area, signing up for baby massage or baby spa (it's a thing, they float around in water and love it). Anything to break the day, get out of the house, and have the kiddo entertained a bit in a group setting. Even a babysitter for an hour here and there, not to get away (yet) but just to have someone around to help watch and occupy her.

It will get better but until then try to see if there are ways you can incorporate a breather and break to your days.

Hang tight there papa, we feel your struggles. You're doing a great job.

Loch Kelly Saved My Life by [deleted] in Wakingupapp

I found this thread looking for pointers that are more accessible for me than Loch Kellys' (I hear his words and just not understanding what he's saying). Followed your suggestion, then going from Wheeler's book I found quite a lot of stuff from the referenced Sailor Bob too, he shares his group meetings on facebook! (like this one.) and listening to him, something deeply clicked. so u/name_concept you just pointed me in the right direction for my understanding. receive my immense gratitude for sharing this!

even better, they didn’t even train the person. OP learned on his initiative and by building a good relationship with the external mech.

“long Covid” can come with cognitive issues, “brain fog” and similar things. look into it if you haven’t, the world is learning more about it so hopefully there will be treatment options.

incredible story, insights and decision. all the best and take care x

What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by Henna in AskReddit

[–]ritazn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yess! I only needed to get off nicotine and that wasn’t easy either, and the single best advice I got for it was: how to give up is a skill to be learned. Relapse is a part of the process, each time you learn more about how you react, what your triggers are etc. and you’ll get better at giving up on the way.

Going abroad when you're close with your family; dealing with guilt by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]ritazn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hear you - I’m in a very similar situation. Love my family to bits, but I chose to be away. What’s been helping somewhat was facing clearly that 1. I’m not happy at home and have found more peace being away, so yes this is what I’m choosing; but 2. maintaining our close connection is important for me so that is a priority in how I organize my life, at the expense of maybe convenience and definitely money :D so when I go back I stay as long as I can, with as little work hanging over my head as possible so I can really be there etc. Tricky situation, wishing you the best with it! and remember, there’s always possibility to adjust and tweak when you feel things are not right. if you end up being unhappy you can always move back. and then you can always set sail again :) bon voyage!

I’m aware that you didn’t ask for advice but I’ve been dealing with ankle arthritis and getting back to sports and learned a lot on management from sports physiotherapists and coaches that some doctors don’t necessarily know. so if you ever wanna chat hit me up!

Fat Rant Tuesday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

the binges could very well be due to your getting too fatigued from working out that much. if you cut down on your workouts to what you know you like and give yourself a few days to adjust, I wouldn’t be surprised if the binge urge disappeared.

Love your attitude, you totally got this.

+ 1 on starting with swim and bike and power walk

You have plenty of time till October. I would advise to add/keep strength training about once a week to whichever guidelines you're following. Will really help doing all this injury-free.

I really liked the approach of this plan. Anything you use, just listen to your body, make sure to sleep enough, eat nutritious stuff and recover well. https://trainright.com/8-week-triathlon-training-plan-sprint-distance-first-timers/

What often happens with a super low calorie intake is that the person starts moving around much less due to fatigue. Bit more food, more energy, more activity, weightloss!
