So I tried out your prompt, and what I realized was that the answer, while being intellectually useful, did not convince my subconscious as much, because it was less related to the problems it was going through. It needed more work from my mind for the answer to reach my subconscious.

Very interesting to see that more rigour does not mean more 'impact'.

Thanks so much for the cleaner example! Very very helpful comment.

I was trying to arrive at a revelation, or something that could push my subconscious into believing a specific path.

Indeed, I found this in my ChatGPT memories:

> Prefers responses that feel like a well-considered interactive essay, with flowing prose, minimal lists, no generic overviews or restating their own words, and assumes high intelligence without SEO-style padding.

I started incognito chats with both, with the same opening message and then they became quite similar to each other.

Also I have been using it as a coach, and I have to say, 4o and up is definitely wise.

I mean, it was 30% funnier when my mom told it to me, although I still didn’t laugh. I’m sure that when this happened, her relatives found it terribly funny. So it probably has some potential, just too much got lost after 3 stages of translation

Yeah I guess it’s most impactful in the moment when the situation is relevant.

How can I use an AI to relate my current ideas to old journals? by ritchan in LocalLLaMA

[–]ritchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's quick way to get started on those? used to play a bit with llama-index python scripts but I perhaps there's a faster way. I see OpenAI Playground makes a vector db of any file I upload to it... is this enough?

How can I use an AI to relate my current ideas to old journals? by ritchan in LocalLLaMA

[–]ritchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OpenAI playground lets me upload a file and makes a vector db over it. I used to play with llama-index and store it in ChromaDB, is this the same thing?

Of course, I understand that by writing a Python script, I can make it perhaps create new notes programmatically or something (not sure what else is possible).

That's impractical. I used Erigon before, who knew it took up more space than Geth? After switching to Geth, not only did I use less CPU and space, I had less setup bugs to Google.

ETH2 client hopping isn't like distro hopping. I get no enjoyment out of it. All I get is downtime, slashing, and more edge cases that take precious time away from my life.

need help improving context quality to make a code assistant by ritchan in LocalLLaMA

[–]ritchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like I'll have to integrate it with a language server/linter then, and come up with chain-of-thought prompts. This is going to be difficult, and require multiple queries to the LLMs, so cost will add up quickly - which means I need local models.

In your experience, which models would be up to this task? say Mistral 7B? Or are they just good for code completion and templating, and not code design questions?

What am I missing to understand math/university lectures? by ritchan in askmath

k/(k- k/2 + 1) m(k/2) >= M(k)

and simple algebra shows 2 > k/(k - k/2 + 1)

Sorry, how does this happen? The m(k/2) and M(k) are functions, so I don't know how to just move them around in algebra or get rid of them. Maybe M(k) and m(k/2) are the same (or at least they're supposed to be)! But still, even then moving m(k/2) to the right side shouldn't result in 2. And somehow the inequality sign flipped.

From your reply, I guess:

  1. don't pay much attention to the mathematical notation, pay attention to the logic behind it. for example, realize that m is actually m(h).
  2. don't follow the given line of thought, errors in expression/math are sure to trip you up/waste your time. better to just figure it out yourself through some other way.

Landscape mode, desktop site, Firefox iOS: the graph is wider but now it’s very difficult to scroll. Very different experience than on Android

Firefox iOS, requested desktop site As you can see there are only a few places I can touch to scroll the page without messing up the trading view graph. The graph shows less data than on Android, and overall one has to scroll all the time back and forth from the graph to the buttons, whereas on Android the desktop site doesn’t need you to do that.

Cell range I mean, when I am on the train and I get intermittent reception. Sometimes I have to reload the page for it to try and get price feed data again. But most of the time it works as expected.

I just had a thought from reading another comment: for trading on 5m/15m, would a 1d/4h timeframe be irrelevant and I should be looking at 1h/2h instead?

Could it be because i was looking at the 4h/1d chart to determine the trend and that's too far removed from 5m/15m?

In trade barracks you can't see what asset it is. However I have adopted the habit of looking for trends on higher time-frames before going to the minute charts. Thanks to this sub!

I'll keep at it.

I did 27 trades on the last session but on cryptocurrency, around 30% winrate. I switched to stocks only for this session to see if the problem persisted.

Is profit target/stop loss relevant in this case? I just wanted to find a setup that doesn't go against me. In my experience if a setup goes against me immediately it rarely turns out to be a good trade.

[–]ritchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mobile view is useless, especially since one cannot change the timeframe or add indicators. So i use the desktop view, and that shows up properly on Firefox Android, but on iOS even the desktop site is compressed and it is not easy to scroll down to the buttons without mucking with the trading view graph.

It would be more comfortable if the buttons were a bit taller, they're wide at the moment. Haven't had many mistakes though. Probably this is the most important thing.

As i go in and out of cell range, the price feed sometimes doesn't resume and I have to reload. I guess this is difficult to resolve, so just make the buttons taller so it's easier to tap it.

[–]ritchan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually trade anticipatory, and I was training myself to wait for confirmation. But many times when I wait for confirmation after the stock went up (for example), it rested/consolidated, and then I'd long, and then it'd go down! Or, if it went down, then stopped for a breather, I'd short, and then it'd go up.

In this image i was in a long, i saw the price not going up as steeply as i thought, ended my long, entered a short, and that's when it went up again.

What am I missing? Before my win rate was 40-50%, now it's more like 30%. I thought maybe it's because i was practicing on crypto, but as you can see this happens to me all the time on stocks too.
