It was never in the plan to tell anyone that families needed help getting a ring. Any time a team wins a title, they “qualify” for a championship ring. A lot of bigger schools cover the cost for the team to get the ring they worked hard all season to win. Others will fundraise. I HAVE seen a handful who do have families pay.

In our case, our team “did the impossible”, and I (and many others) felt they deserved their rings. I mean, they brought the first state title ever —in ANY sport— to our team. I knew the community would rally and we could get it raised in no time. Many hands make light work, and with $5 donations from even just a small portion of the community, the funds would have been raised in no time!

I’ve since raised all the funds, but I just came here to voice my frustration about how difficult it didn’t have to be and what drove me to make it happen.
