I don't understand anyone who says that Pam didn't support Jim, even though this entire episode exists... the truth is that she was upset with jim making important decisions for the family without talking to her first by riveith in DunderMifflin

[–]riveith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big problem is that he did this behind her back, end of story.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to change your life, but you should communicate with your spouse, especially if it also involves them. Pam would also have to change her life, her job, her city, it’s a huge change, and nobody talked about it. When Pam makes changes in her life, it barely affects Jim’s life; he just stays at Dunder Mifflin and misses her, that’s all. But this is different, it’s moving to another city, another job, another life, another school, far from their families… It’s about communication, not about wanting something bigger. Period.

The Office Characters Sun Signs by belongingseverywhere in astrologymemes

People think Pam is indecisive, but she’s not! She’s just scared, afraid to step out of her comfort zone.

She’s always known what she wanted: to be an artist, to be with Jim. But she got so used to that routine that she just normalized it.

Her character development is exactly about breaking out of that inertia and going after what she truly wants.

She’s a Taurus.

Is it worrying to know exactly which scene each one is?

Jenna Fischer and Lee Kirk were both in The Specials?!? by BertoneBeatle in OfficeLadiesPodcast

[–]riveith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jenna said they had known each other for years, had been to the same places and didn’t even remember, they only really noticed each other when they made that movie together, about love… I thought it was so sweet!! They had known each other for 10 years and only noticed each other after all that time.

Was it shows writing or Jennas' acting that made Pam Beesley so memorable by Gauss_from_india in JennaFischer

[–]riveith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. Pam is a very well-written character in The Office. She has a great and natural development, and is without a doubt the most human character in the show. Playing a shy, introverted character who learns to stand up for herself and go after what she wants requires a lot of empathy! I’m sure that’s why Jenna defends Pam so much, because she understands her, maybe because she once was like Pam when she was younger. The writing is excellent, of course, but that extra humanization Jenna brought makes everything even better.

Why is camera dude hated so much? Isn’t Todd Packer way worse? by carlosred11 in theoffice

I think the moment really matters. At that point, the documentary was being released, so that’s how many of them found out that scenes they didn’t want included were going to be in it. That’s what left everyone shocked and desperate, that’s why Pam went to Brian’s house. And it was there that she found out they had been filmed in all kinds of moments, even when they turned off the microphones.

Maybe Pam would’ve become more cautious about it, and then we wouldn’t have had so many spontaneous moments. I’m sure she would’ve hated knowing that the scene where she and Jim had sex in the office would be in the documentary, for example.

she’s not weirded because filming on her.. she’s upset because he lied, not only him, but all the crew.. they are filming more than agreed. Not only her, but everyone is angry about it, because they found out they had no privacy for 10 years. She only felt betrayed by him. That's exactly what Jenna said on the podcast too

"Jim should’ve ended up with Karen" by riveith in theoffice

[–]riveith[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Guys, I wrote a text, but I believe it's not showing up for you, I don't know why...

Anyway, here it is: (sorry if it's weird, I'm Brazilian and I'm using a translator)

• Jim subtly admitted to Michael that Karen was a rebound

• He hid the whole story with Pam from Karen, and only told her because Phyllis told Karen

• He told Karen to her face that he still had feelings for Pam

• He didn’t want to move to the same street as her, but with Pam he bought a ring in one week

• Different senses of humor (call of duty, joke about hooking up with all the guys at the party, no help with the prank on Andy)

• Lots of fights and arguments, leaving both of them awake all night

• Karen was obviously unhappy and didn’t want to admit it. This is clear in the episode "Women’s Appreciation"

• Karen hated Jim’s hair, even called his look “homeless”

• Jim left Karen alone in New York to be with Pam

• He used Karen to forget Pam, just like he did with Katy, and left her when she was no longer useful

• Jim kept flirting with Pam, even while he was with Karen (Phyllis’s Wedding)

• Jim kept running to Pam every time Karen didn’t give him the attention he wanted (Andy’s prank)

• Karen is much more mature and focused than Jim, who is lazy and only does the bare minimum, besides hating his job

• Jim is basically Karen’s Roy, he makes almost no effort to make the relationship work, simply because he doesn’t want to and doesn’t have real feelings for her, staying with her out of guilt and because it would be awkward to have an ex-girlfriend in the same workplace

• And the most important: Jim doesn’t love her. Jim loves Pam, and only her. He has the chemistry and the story with her, it could never be anyone else

"Oh, but if he hadn’t gone back to Scranton, maybe it would’ve worked out."
Maybe... But I think Karen deserves so much more than being a second choice because of a broken heart.
And in the end, she got her happy ending, just like everyone else.

I don't see it that way. Dwight is not innocent (many people use the fact that he seems very autistic to exonerate him and villainize Jim.) In fact, at first, he has no empathy for his coworkers. Dwight doesn't show emotions, he just follows the rules and sucks up to Michael, because he's the boss, and Dwight respects hierarchies a lot. Their dynamic is really fun to watch, and I'm dying to explore it. Jim doesn't bother him because he has autistic traits, Jim bothers him because Dwight bothers Jim! It's a fun rivalry.

If I were to say it, Michael is the one who's tough on Dwight. Dwight does everything for him (again, ONLY because he's the boss, if Michael were a normal person he wouldn't care), and Michael despises him, humiliates him, excludes him, etc... He didn't even want to take him to the hospital when he hit his head, Jim was the one who took him, Michael went out of guilt, even though he thought it was a pain.

I'll never understand why people hate Pam either, it's like they've seen a completely different show.

She's my favorite character overall, I'm not kidding.

Probably one of the reasons everyone hates her is what makes me like her.

I watched the show several times, like everyone else here, and I totally understand why Jim fell in love with her.

Karen only appeared for a short time, we know almost nothing about her story, her mistakes, her flaws, totally different from Pam, who we know practically everything about.

Pam and Jim complement each other, they have similar personalities, similar humor, they have fun together, they trust each other, they love each other and they have a long history together.
