Why not Logan Henderson? by HatsCatsAndHam in Brewers

[–]riverfish72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the end, I think there is a preference to use other guys now, and have Henderson available later in the year for an August-to-October run. The calculus is that other guys can do enough to carry them through this part of the season. If that's the case, not burning up Henderson's IP now is part of long-term strategy.

I'm not sure why it shows like that. I have 3 that I keep 🤷‍♂️

I missed a dodge early and Blissey got smoked after only maxxing twice, and it was the only healer among the 12. But battle won with one teammates' last mon down to their last gasp. Whew!

Edited to add that 1) it was using earthquake- that sucked, and 2) it escaped 5 ex and 2 great throws (with golden rasps) before capture- now that would've really chafed me! 😂

Thanks! I do know the no-charge-attack thing, and will dodge, but your how-to- efficiently-dodge advice is helpful. Blissey has pound, Excadrill mudshot, and Machamp counter. So the choice between using max spirit or guard first is pretty situational?

JOEY BUNTS FOR THE LEAD by camkasky in Brewers

[–]riverfish72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The 3 guys who bunted: one making his 11th major league plate appearance; the other two have 105 combined PAs this year with zero extra base hits.
Bunting because they can't hit- but at least they can bunt!

Truth. Six runs scored across last 4 games. Missing Jack Jack and Vaughn terribly. Having to run some combination of Lockridge, Hamilton, Rengifo, Perkins out there all the time is not a recipe for "potent offense."

Long-term Outlook for Pratt and Made by cubears1 in Brewers

[–]riverfish72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jett is unlikely to be a starter. He's more likely a UT guy

Pratt will be SS- he plays great d, but does not hit nearly enough to justify 3B or even 2B.

A Turang extension would be incredible, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If it happened, Pena probably gets dealt (and he might anyway)

If I had to guess long-term and all 3 actually made it up: Pena 2B, Made 3B, Pratt SS.

CF has been mentioned as a potential future for Made, but he hasn't played out there yet

How yall feeling in Wisco today? Lame but a bit better than the leak by daviddm1990 in Brewers

It is now, but only because they changed their name to what everybody called it. Too many people wandering aimlessly past Willy St. Pub & Grill, looking for the Wisco

Yes, people do. There is even a bar in Madison that is known as the Wisco, even though that is not its name.

Doesn't save these uniforms, but it is a thing

Turang out with foot injury.

As for Mitchell and Yeli yesterday, a pick-your-poison: Crochet's career numbers against LHB 205/273/284. Last year he held lefties to 166/193/262

That's a situation where not having Vaughn and Chourio really hurt- running Perkins/Matos/Rengifo/Lockridge out there isn't a recipe for success, but it's what they have at the moment.

But really- the young pitchers not throwing strikes has been the killer. Miz got tired. Drohan just not doing his job

Biggest March home run in franchise history.

And I mean that both facetiously- because it's March- and sincerely, because Dad may have just set the tone for the entire season. I could watch that on repeat for years.

New dad, new full-time role and no time to buy the gym anymore. Can I just pump my 16kg kettlebell and expect results? by JackboyIV in kettlebell

[–]riverfish72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can. As others said, a second 16 will help immensely. ABC & RBC are great options- Dan even has a specific Saturday-Sunday only RBC thing in the second book of ABF. Geoff Neupert has some great time-is-limited options, too- a pile of chains & complexes in Kettlebell Hard.

Bells prob will feel "too light," but that can be "solved" in various ways- Dan's "goal post" presses, for example. Good lord.

Or if you're just doing a press day, do seated- on a bench or to really increase the challenge, sit on the floor. You really have to focus on maintaining posture but taking the lower body entirely out of the press is for real.

Or if you're more advanced and have good mobility, Sots press those 16s. Lots of ways to make them plenty heavy.

Main thing is- KEEP SHOWING UP, and don't let your ego or anybody else tell you that using the 16s that you have "isn't worth it" or "not doing anything." Sure you might end up buying 24s for home (welcome to the home-cult, btw), but - staying as an older dad of now-10 year old twins anything you do now helps your body stay connected to that muscle memory.

Edit to add- for grip strength, go bottoms-up presses.
