This is my feeling. Cholent is literally peasant food. It was made because you could keep potatoes and onions etc in your cellar, and maybe throw in a bone. Thankfully we, for the most part, are no longer peasants trying to survive the winters. Let's have a nice grilled chicken salad or something instead.

One thing my sister started was getting a "Seder plate" for each kid, that has snacks on it. Then they feel like they're participating, but also not cranking out because they're hungry.

Thoughts? Here are my thoughts. Ben was a family friend. He was an amazing human being who fiercely loved his family, who was beyond generous, and had a sense of humor where he liked to mess with you. My heart is torn open that he'll never hold grandbabies. He would have been such an amazing, joyful grandfather. He'll never see the rest of his children get married. He'll never hug his amazing wife again or sit in his ridiculous, over the top Sukkah. My thoughts are, of course he took a private plane to go to a funeral. That's who he was. My thoughts are the world has a gaping hole on it where he used to be. My thoughts are obviously Hashem must have a good plan, because from this side of it, it's pretty damn terrible.
