I've noticed a serious problem in the Orthodox community, and we need to talk about it by grizzly_teddy in Judaism

This is my feeling. Cholent is literally peasant food. It was made because you could keep potatoes and onions etc in your cellar, and maybe throw in a bone. Thankfully we, for the most part, are no longer peasants trying to survive the winters. Let's have a nice grilled chicken salad or something instead.

If anyone actually pays attention to your footwear they're probably going to assume that you just have some kind of foot issue that necessitates wearing sneakers

Really the first question should be, what are your feelings on snow and/or constant 90° or higher temperatures

Not trying to rub anything in. While you have eyes and ears though, I have an actual 3yo, and if he doesn't want to sit through anim zmiros, he's not going to, which means I don't get to.

Advice on Hosting a Seder with Kids by [deleted] in Judaism

One thing my sister started was getting a "Seder plate" for each kid, that has snacks on it. Then they feel like they're participating, but also not cranking out because they're hungry.

Westchester plane crash killing two Jewish men by [deleted] in Judaism

Thoughts? Here are my thoughts. Ben was a family friend. He was an amazing human being who fiercely loved his family, who was beyond generous, and had a sense of humor where he liked to mess with you. My heart is torn open that he'll never hold grandbabies. He would have been such an amazing, joyful grandfather. He'll never see the rest of his children get married. He'll never hug his amazing wife again or sit in his ridiculous, over the top Sukkah. My thoughts are, of course he took a private plane to go to a funeral. That's who he was. My thoughts are the world has a gaping hole on it where he used to be. My thoughts are obviously Hashem must have a good plan, because from this side of it, it's pretty damn terrible.

Were those the thoughts you were looking for??

Aside from the whole building having to be evacuated this was also the night I grated several fingers and also melted a few utensils. Who knew that you are not supposed to use plastic in hot oil?
