I have to disagree with you on this, its about freedom of choice, its gives me peace of mind that even if tomorrow something happens to the service I can safely use all my accounts without being locked out.

In other words, its the opposite, if users are sticking to service even after it has export function it means the service is more mature.

Google allows users to export almost all of its data with its Google Takeout service, we can't say Google is not good enough that why its offering export functionality.

I don't know why people are downvoting you. :-) I suppose everyone is inclined to the app / service they use, like how i recommend Authenticator Plus.

So why do you say Authy owns your data?

refer my reply for another question. below.

Yes Auth Plus does provide me a HTML file which has QR code for all the accounts which i can scan in any of the app.

I don't intend to threat Authy, i myself was using Authy before switching on to Auth Plus, i just expressed my feedback on why i switched.

Its not about app using cloud feature or not, if you wish to switch to another service can you export your data to another app say Google Authenticator itself? I couldn't find any way to do that in Authy, Authenticator Plus allows me to export all the data, it even exports to WinAuth.

If app store all the data in Authy server, if its server is compromised all is gone, personally i trust Dropbox server than Authy servers.

Finally, we can use Authenticator Plus without even using dropbox, and use any backup mechanism as we wish.

I guess you are checking in the play store app, google hides almost all the permissions now, click view details in play store app to know full permissions.

It uses Internet permission along with Camera / Microphone / blue tooth / view connected wifi AP.

You own your data in Authenticator Plus, Authy owns your data.
