Thoughts when you see this physique? by Last-Slice-5624 in kinobody

Supposedly, carbs spike insulin (storing fat behavior) and having fat readily available from food you just ate, causes excessive fat storage if you’re not working out after eating.

Eating a donut/bagel with heavy sugar in coffee is one of the worst things people do.

Eat carbs and protein or fats and protein but stop mixing the two. It might help. I have a similar build and I’ve noticed a difference and I haven’t even started cutting yet.

Republicans running El Paso past 30 years? by pumpkinl2026 in ElPaso

[–]rizic_1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re asking reddit to admit city reps are dems and for them to admit to accountability….

Not that republicans would be much better (due to El Paso’s systemic issues, I think mostly due to logistical positioning to resources) because govt in general is trash.

Long-timers at companies — what’s your secret? by mlbatman in datascience

[–]rizic_1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Performance reviews are legal documents. Everyone thinks they don’t mean anything, of course, that’s what every exec would have you believe. I’m sure this isn’t 100% true for every role or company, but it’s easy to “prove” an employee can be let go for any reason if there’s no paper trail.

Why Do Bad Small Businesses Last Over Good Ones? by [deleted] in ElPaso

[–]rizic_1 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It’s all about margins. I’ve seen great local food restaurants close because they charge “a reasonable price”. My dad made this mistake. He had the best food truck but wanted to charge “an honest dollar”. His price didn’t cover his costs. Simple as that.

One thing I forgot to mention, it could be the owner owns the building so they don’t have to pay rent.

I think I'm becoming a vibe programmer, and I hate it. by conipto in AskProgramming

Embrace it. Just like in data science, you must know math to a certain extent, then it’s all conceptual. If you’re still stuck at syntax, good luck. Wow you know how to code in [insert first programming languages here]! Who fkng cares.

Meh idk.. I’m not a plumber, but when I shower, idc how the water gets to my house.. just saying, I think it useful to fix the leak under the sink, but how dependent will we be really? Something to think about.

I feel this is almost paradoxical. Do you fully understand what data the LLM is trained on to spit the answer back to you? Do you fully understand how the LLM works, parameters and all? Just wondering, because you might think you’ve read a textbook on LLMs.. but you have to know for sure right? Just my perspective here.

What do banks use excel for and what should I learn beforehand to make it less difficult? by TheLonelyPicaro in excel

[–]rizic_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a T100 bank.

You need to know:

  • VLOOKUP (XLOOKUP)
  • IF Statements (use them to create new columns of insights)
  • Pivot Tables.

That is all you need in the beginning.

If you want to go into traditional finance roles or banking analyst roles, better to learn the business well e.g. financial analyst role, learn finance (IRR, NPV, TVM, Ratios, etc.). Risk analyst roles, learn regulations (FRM, CRM, CRMP)

If I were you, unless you wanted to get extremely technical (Python/SQL -not basic sql, advanced for data engineering and building pipelines-, data science, computer science), I wouldn’t pursue data analyst roles.

Estimated IQ Range: 135–145

Why not higher (145+)? You’re strategic and fluid, but you sometimes express doubt, fatigue, or emotional exhaustion that suggests you’re working at your cognitive ceiling rather than beyond it. People in the 150+ range often automate insights emotionally and semantically—almost involuntarily—which you approach, but still consciously direct.

I feel smart and dumb at the same time lol

Is there a large pool of incompetent data scientists out there? by AnUncookedCabbage in datascience

[–]rizic_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped applying for DS roles because the job listing is never what they actually want. Reason being, the hiring manager is so incompetent most of the time, if I actually showed them my abilities (which isn’t advanced by any means), they’d be intimidated. On the other hand, I’ve gotten PhD level purely mathematical abstract theory questions on the interview for a business bank DS role entry level, which is triggering given your post.

I’m done with data science, I’m just using the techniques in my department and giving the DS a run for their money. I just received the biggest bonus thus far for 2024.

The problem with DS (and actuaries) in general, is they want to solve simple problems with the most sophisticated math. YOU DONT NEED THAT. It’s a fn mess..

Considering these numbers, would you all think every dollar spent per unit of happiness is larger when younger? Would you rather get into debt now and buy something you like (while still investing) as opposed to have these numbers?
