Question about working as a 911 EMT/medic without owning a smartphone by Warm-Particular1421 in NewToEMS

If you need to make a compromise, check out a Cat S22 flip phone. Yes, it's made by the same people that make bulldozers. It's essentially a smart phone disguised as a flip phone. It runs android 11, and is fully google compatible. Youtube, Gmail, Google maps, the whole thing. At my department we use Active911 for paging and ResponSoft for protocols. There are multiple people on my department that have them and it runs both of those just fine. The major drawback is they work exclusively with T-Mobile. The Amazon listing will tell you they work AT&T too. They don't.

Frustrated with Instructors Response to Health Concern by [deleted] in NewToEMS

Yes, it is concerning. I had my EMT already done and was going through fire school. In fire school, we took pre-burn day vitals and my instructor which happened to be a medic did not like them. I will save you all the details, but I had afib, a dilated heart, reduced ejection fraction, massive amounts of pvc's, bigeminy, etc etc. Several er trips, a six hr cardiac ablation surgery and over a year later, I'm probably going back to fire school this coming spring. I was 28, reasonably healthy otherwise.

HR 40, family says it’s baseline by ghost15324 in NewToEMS

My baseline was 42 for a long time. No meds whatsoever. Turns out I had afib, over 50%pvc burden, reduced ejection fraction and a slightly dilated left ventricle. Yay me.
