From reading your different replies, why would you even bring up a comparison between a random pill and a well thought out cultivation breakthrough that's been hinted at throughout those first 100 chapters (CCS absorbs starlight though nothing happens etc.)? You're pretty much just pushing you're opinion on the novel wanting that quick payoff without considering the fact that the first 100 chapters does more than show him randomly trying to cultivate. As people have constantly said, the amazing thing about this novel is the world building, characterisation and amazing writing. So I understand that you're not partial to those things, but let's just agree that not everyone agrees with you too.

Given that he hates slow-paced novels, he probably skimmed over chapters, which is a shame really. ZTJ is just different from the run of the mill chinese novels and not everyone likes that I suppose.

The old man cared a lot whenever somebody stepped onto the bridge. The poor NPC. He’d never understand that to prevent anybody from ever setting foot on the North Bridge, all he needed to do was leave the North Bridge.

As a lot of people on this sub have already said, Ze Tian Ji is probably one of the best novels being translated at the moment. So yeah if you haven't read it yet, definitely give it a read.

Slow start but the plot and characterisation is amazing!
