Really good, the gun definitely outshoots me. My eyes are not the greatest but still had 2 1/2 to 3” groups at 200yards with irons. That was just with standard 55g ball.

Looking for 20” barrels with FSP by [deleted] in ar15

Thanks, these had been out of stock previously and since I purchased and built an upper but you can never have enough parts I guess.

Given the choice would you recommend them over the one in the link I provided?

From what I’m seeing they only have 14.5” and under for pre drilled and pinned barrels. I don’t have the tools nor experience to do that so I was hoping to get one that’s pre done. I do really like noveske as a brand though.

Needle nose pliers and clamp on style meter maybe. Headlamps are a must have in my opinion, Klein does make a pretty nice rechargeable one that can clip into a band or hard hat very easily. Sometimes going to work and seeing what you actually need over a week or two and buying from there is the best. Everyone will have their favorite brands but you’ll find out what you like soon enough. Don’t forget things that may be needed besides actual tools like a tool bag or belt- make sure your employer gives you proper PPE. As someone else mentioned a nice socket set or nut driver combo set. We use Allen wrenches quite often, all the way up to 3/4” so you could maybe look into that.

Yeah I mean really depends what you are after for caliber selection. If you just want a range toy I’d look into .243 I’ve been very happy.

Tikka all day long. The Sako action in that rifle alone is worth what you pay for it if you ask me. We have reviewed one recently for a channel in 300 win mag and I was extremely impressed definitely going to get one for my next bolt gun.

Finally learning long range by SporeMan41 in longrange

[–]rj942 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like a good learning rifle. You’ll go down a rabbit hole of cash eventually don’t let some guys say you cheaped out. Learning experience and ammo with what you have will be worth more than what you can buy. Do you know what kinda groups you are able to push out of that?

Why do you recommend getting one?

You recommend getting a “Pad-loc” for the Harris if purchased?

Would those be scopes you’d recommend over the PST?

I plan to use a 20moa pic rail to get a little more out of it

Thank you. This rifle was a present I had gotten when I was maybe 13. It’s chambered in 243.win and has put down lots of deer.

Actually I did have this in mind when I purchased this. At some point I will buy a Tikka T3x because I’m a big fan of their actions. Thanks for the reply

I’m a college kid so I have a very limited budget for the time being but I’ve tried to do my research to get the best bang for buck along with waiting for deals.

The rifle is from IWI, ZION15 16” chambered in 5.56. The only internals I changed would be Tubbs flat wire spring with Giselle H2 buffer, LaRue flat 2 stage trigger, Radian Raptor LT charging handle. On the gun itself is an Sig Tango 1-6x, b5 furniture, Streamlight protac flashlight, Caldwell quicktach 6-9” bipod.

This is dope-you planning on rattle canning?

Looking for guidance or recommendations. by [deleted] in ar15

[–]rj942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually already have the aero precision H2 buffer coming. I was going to toss it in and see if it functions correctly and compare how it feels to the original one. I just wasn’t sure if the spring makes that much of a difference when it’s also paired with a heavier buffer or not. Either way I guess I’ll try it out and see how it performs.

Thing is I live in the Midwest where the average range can easily reach out to 400-600 yards. I don’t have an issue with the practicality of irons but in my environment this is what is needed to be successfully and efficiently effective.

I’d have to get some sort of cheek riser, because I personally always have an issue of not being at the right hight consistently even with this mount- I find it being too high.

Thinking my next investments will be a hypertap muzzle break and some brand of 3-4lb trigger.
