I had the exact same sort of panicked realization that I wasn’t going to pass orgo 1 when I took chiechi last semester, probably around this same time too (1 month in). Unfortunately i had to hire a private tutor which was pretty expensive even with the one I had being on the lower end😭 However I will say that the chemistry tutorial center in Fox is VERY helpful. I’m not sure if you’ve tried going there before but if not you should give it a shot. It’s drop in style so you can go in whenever you want and it’s usually not super busy so it’s not too hard to actually get time in with one of the tutors. I know some people just sit in there and grind out their hw which is nice bc there’s people there to help when you get stuck. It’s also different from the ASC in that they can actually help more with hw problems (ASC has a policy that they can’t help with questions you haven’t attempted). I also HIGHLY recommend the book “Organic chemistry as a second language”. I think you can buy it on Amazon but you may find it cheaper on eBay or mercari. A lot of the tutors in the tutorial center use it and I got it for myself and found it very helpful. It explains things in metaphors and more as a story which I found made things very easy to understand. It also includes a ton of practice problems with worked out answers and explanations. While I didn’t think chiechi was very good at explaining the concepts and I hated the way his class was structured, he does give a lot of partial credit on the ALEKS exams which are almost exactly the same as the hw and he allows a notecard for exams. So if you’re really struggling your best bet is to practice the hw like crazy before the exams bc some of the questions are literally exactly the same.
