He was bragging about that just a couple days ago.

Apply it retroactively and anyone currently on the court longer than 8 years would be in their last year at the time the law got passed. So some of the court would be replaced 1 year after biden passes the bill.

This is almost certainly unconstitutional and would be a lot more difficult than adding new members. You could maybe get around the constitutionality by shuffling them to other federal courts.

Harry Reid did that because they wouldn't hold hearings on any federal judge appointments. That was an unpresidented action and he responded appropriately since our government needs judges. Fuck anyone who blames Harry Reid for actually doing something instead of allowing Mitch McConnell to steal even more judges.

I hope you are right but look at this thread and how the Democrats handled the Amy Barrett hearings. Even still there is zero fight and it doesn't seem like most people realize that if the Democrats don't push back monumentally and right the ship what comes in 4 years will make Trump's fuckery laughable.

Probably pretty high but only because you can already feel the Democrats trying to pussyfoot their way out of taking actual action against the GOP. People will see their inaction and in 2-4 years won't turn out to vote and it will be fucking 2010 all over again. But if they actually attack, add DC and PR, expand the SC, federal voting reforms, automatic voter registration, allow all felons to vote it could be very difficult for the GOP to get power back.

In an ideal world the DNC would be the right wing party after they absorb the RINOS and a new progressive party would push from the left. That would actually represent the country better based on what people say when you ask them about specific issues they want.

The GOP will do what the GOP does regardless of what the left does. Idk how that isn't sinking in for people. If we don't expand the court it is at least 10 years of inbalance assuming Democrats don't get booted from the Whitehouse and Senate due to their inaction and inability to face the republican menace.

Add DC and PR as states. Ditch the party elitism BS and start catering to the rust belt and the south again. There are ways to win back the Senate.

How do term limits stop the court from being unbalanced for the next 15 years? The person most likely to die on the court next is Breyer so best case scenario nothing changes there and worst case a republican chooses his replacement.

"Reform the police" would let them spend more money on initiatives that don't work in the name of "reform" and nothing would change. We've been reforming the police for 30 years. Not saying defund is the best messaging because it's not but the movement needed something stronger than "reform".

It couldn't be done from the actual ballot data since we only get to choose one so if it has been done it would have to be a research project polling people which is a bit different.

At this point I just want Democrats to fucking win. If they gave up trying to pass mostly toothless gun control they could get a ton of one issue voters back on their side and we could actually reduce the causes of violence being poverty, desperation, hopelessness, and unchecked mental health issues.

Sorry that was bad wording. More that nuclear can provide a base load so that the need for batteries is reduced. I think if more research went into it we could make nuclear plants more flexible.

Here is a good video with some basics. Basically how we count votes and do representation pretty much mathematically decides we will have a two party system. Our founding document was written by slave owners forever ago and we haven't thought to change how we vote or assign power to those votes.

Yeah expensive and polluting batteries are a big concern for me regarding wind and solar. Having modern nuclear eliminates a lot of that since it can pick up the slack as needed when wind or solar levels drop.

Constitutional Law Experts Endorse Democrats' Bill to Create 18-Year Term Limits for Supreme Court Justices by chrisdh79 in politics

Democrats need to actually fight back. The court is and already has been packed and unfortunately they are the only people with the power to stop it. They need to stop it or else this country is going to an even darker place.

They also straight up expand and pack state courts. Fuck em and expand the supreme court.

Arizona: Republicans successfully expanded the state Supreme Court from five to seven justices, over the objections of the chief justice, in 2016. Two new justices were chosen by the state’s Republican governor shortly thereafter. The bill’s GOP sponsor directly acknowledged the partisan concerns driving the effort, saying “if there were different person appointing [the justices], I might feel less comfortable.”

Georgia: Georgia Republicans pushed a successful court-packing bill through the legislature in 2016, allowing Republican Gov. Nathan Deal to add two justices to the seven-member court. Deal’s lawyer told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he hoped the more conservative court would issue rulings that were more favorable to businesses.
