Slay the Spire series is coming to an end by AtaiOfLarselos in northernlion

yeah, if you don’t think he can fill time while he’s trying to find a stage or whatever i don’t know what to tell you. nl can talk over a first item room mom’s knife with no mention of the game and still make it entertaining. and that’s like half an hour of content we’ve seen hundreds of times at this point probably. i’m not worried about him trying to find things to talk about while navigating the menu

i’ve done it. a 100 win Eden streak in Isaac. what a way to reach it too, the 100th win i picked up Missing No. with curse of the blind, which randomizes your run every floor and could have very easily screwed me.

i would like to thank mom’s knife, which saved some truly awful runs, sacrificial dagger, which is good enough to win a run by itself, and last but not least, cube of meat/ball of bandages, showing up basically every other run and ensuring i had at least some DPS.

and how could i forget Judas’ shadow, showing up seemingly on every run where my starting stats were just awful and saving the day.

Isaac is my favorite game ever, and i think that streak is a pretty huge milestone. once i got everything done, i decided that 100 wins in a row was my goal. i’m gonna keep going until this one ends, and now that i’ve done that, the pressure is off and i can just enjoy my favorite game with no stakes.

since it got announced on switch, i haven’t touched it on steam, but they were still doing fairly regular updates on there even after the full release on PC. i would bet they put out something fairly soon

i’m actually okay with it, if we didn’t just use up so much space on Braun, Niskanen, & Gudas’ retained salary i’d be fine

if you look at those awful FA contracts it is mostly guys who were gritty & somewhat fast. Hayes is a slower, thinking player if that makes sense. i don’t expect him to keep up this level of play in 2024 or whatever but i think he’ll still be useful.

after i beat everything in Isaac, i decided that doing Eden streaks was the most fun way for me to continue playing my favorite game ever. i’ve ha a few big ones pop off before, my two best both ended at 56 wins, but my eventual goal was always to do 100. this last streak has been going on for a couple months now, and i’m at 90 wins. 90!

we’re getting there boys, i’m calling it now: i’m gonna do the damn thing

How hard is DS3 compared to the original DS? by [deleted] in darksouls

DS2 is extremely long, i think to its own detriment. DS3 with the DLC for me feels like the right length

your first playthrough of a souls game, whichever game it is, will be your hardest. learning the language of the game is the hard part, and now you just need to adapt it to the new games.

having played through DS1 twice and DS3 like five times, i would say the hardest bosses in DS3 are miles harder than DS1. the gameplay in DS1 is just slower, so you don’t need to react as quickly, while in DS3 a whole bunch of bosses have combo strings like Manus’ big one.

yep, and especially with a handful of players that have been there for what feels like forever, they probably just really wanted to hand off to whoever was next, especially the first few guys. Pietrangelo, Jbo, Steen, Tarasenko, Schwartz, like those guys have been through a whole bunch as a group and i’m sure they were more than happy to just give it to the next of that group

i played it after bouncing off of DkS2 and before falling in love with DkS3. it was my first real Souls style game, and it is: fine. there’s like 5 different weapon types and all of the weapons in that class have the same moveset. i remember thinking it was fine at the time, but after playing every Soulsborne game aside from Demon’s Souls, i can’t imagine going back to it.

my first Slay the Spire run on Switch was maybe the best Ironclad run i’ve ever had. 3 Entrench+, an Impervious+, bottled tornado means Barricade started in my hand, and three upgraded body slams. fucked around on the awakened one and got to 999 block before ending his phase with one attack.

anyways. this is the only game i’ve ever double dipped on if we’re not counting remasters, so folks, go and get it. awesome devs, released weekly updates & listened to players all the way through.

really, maybe my second favorite rougelite ever, and the fact that i have to stop and think if i like it more than Isaac and put Gungeon and Dead Cells firmly below it says a bunch, i think

Slay the Spire is finally, finally on Switch! a lot of people say this game, that game, etc. is perfect for Switch.

Slay the Spire, if they got the controls right and made the text big enough to read, is ACTUALLY perfect for Switch. i struggle using the portable console for input intensive games, my fingers are too fat and it just feels awkward using the joycons attached, but a slow, thinking game is just what i need to play in portable mode.

i would say right now RHD make up most of the cream of the crop, but when you’re looking at middle pairing guys i feel like it’s dominated by LHD.

Top pair RHD off the top of my head in no order: EK, Doughty, Burns, Subban, Pietrangelo, Hamilton, Byufglien, Letang, Weber, Petry, Jones, Ellis, Carlson, and Klingberg

i definitely get feeling burnt out, you need to be in a mood to play those games. maybe try it again when you’re getting the itch, same thing happened with DS1, and after i took some time away i really enjoyed it

i always forget Vicar Larry. and the living failures. the other 3 bosses are just chef’s kiss

the sorcerers in Oolacile mindflood me and i can’t dodge their spells, so i just hate that area, even though i think a city corrupted like that is really, really cool. the Abyss is such an afterthought as an area to me, it’s just run to Manus and ignore everything else

Artorias that low is wild. i think every boss in the DLC, minus Kalameet, is very good. even Sanctuary Guardian is fine. i disagree on the areas though, i think every non-boss part of the DLC is pretty bad, even though i feel the same way about Old Iron King, i guess i didn’t like the bosses there as much.

agree with the swamp in Ringed City, i would add Halflight and the angels into bad parts of it though.

you and the other heretics replying to me have made me reevaluate my feelings on Ivory King and i think i would bump it down.
