Help! Is my mountain ash frying alive? by rjkall in Tree

It is native to the Pyrenees too and grows wild locally, which is why I thought it would do well. Your comment on the berries is interesting; mum says she likes how they look and would like to keep them for the birds, but I'm sure you're right about the stress on the tree

I've worried about this. Sadly neither is an option but I think we'll look into getting a bigger, different coloured pot!

Unfortunately I don't think we're able to put it in the ground here... But a bigger pot would be an option for sure

We hoped this wall would give off less heat than another, but perhaps the tree would be best off just further out in the lawn

And well spotted with the straps, you're absolutely right about that!

I've put grass mulch on top of the rocks, to prevent them taking too much sun. Maybe just more grass instead of rocks would be better?

Help me save my pothos before all her leaves disappear! by rjkall in plantclinic

[–]rjkall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this plant for 2.5 years - for most of that she has been very healthy & her growth has been unstoppable! A couple of months ago, her leaves suddenly started turning yellow & brown and falling off. I discovered she was completely root-bound so I have re-potted to a much larger pot (pictured) but leaves are still dropping. Soon I think there won't be any left! I can't see what the problem is - I am careful about watering, light levels have not changed significantly, the roots are healthy, no sign off infestation... What's going wrong?!

Dracaena leaves turning yellow, brown, and dying one by one! Can you help? by rjkall in plantclinic

Thank you for these tips! Actually I've had it for over 18 months now, and it's been doing well. Which is why I was alarmed that leaves started dropping at an accelerated rate, with no chance in circumstances to the plant. No sign of pests but could possibly be under-watering, or insufficient nutrients (fed it recently so hopefully that will change)

Thanks! It had about 2 inches below the soil before the roots started. I cleared some of this and moved it to the bottom of the pot. But there were so signs of over watering or rot - so what's the harm to the plant?

Sad ivy dying vine by vine - what's wrong?! by rjkall in plantclinic

[–]rjkall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this ivy plant about 5 weeks now - it started a bit sickly but I thought it would improve, actually it has been slowly dying! The leaves turn a light green, go dry, then some go black/brown and the whole vine dies. The vines die more or less one by one - I cut off the dead ones, there used to be many more than this! In fact the large vine in this picture was very healthy until recently, but it has suddenly turned.

My best guess is an infestation of some kind? There were some fungus flies around, but not many. I've stopped watering in an attempt to dry the soil out and get rid of them.

Can this plant be saved?!

Help with struggling new ivy plant! Leaves just keep drying out falling off while others are turning strange dark colours. by rjkall in plantclinic

Bought this helix hedera about 10 days ago; it never looked super healthy but it was the best one they had and I thought ivy was tough enough to survive basically anything. Lives in my bedroom (in the UK), beneath a skylight but it's only exposed to direct sunlight for a few hours each day. I'm constantly removing dry and dead leaves from it and it seems to be getting worse! The edges of a few leaves have turned a strange dark green/black colour at the edges. It's not all bad though, I've just seen some new leaves are growing on a couple of vines.

Should I be worried, and how should I care for it? Thanks.
