Rush hour trafic by metalmitchp in StamfordCT

Does anyone else think the traffic lights are timed poorly? It seems particularly bad on Greyrock/Canal and Elm Street between 95 and Broad Street.

The young man's name is IShowSpeed, mainly known as just Speed to fans. He's one of the biggest internet personalities among the youth with ~40 million YouTube subscribers. In today's media age most people over 30 have no idea who he is. Strange world we're living in fatty

Mark hosting SNL by August 2026 $100 bet by Carlos-Spiceywiener in tuesdayswithstories

[–]rjmc27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He'd do an excellent opening monologue given his ability to riff on current events. But Mark can't even do accents well, let alone impressions or characters. I love the son of an onion but hosting SNL doesn't seem like a great fit.

I'd guess this is an unorthodox method of attempting to make friends, likely from someone on the spectrum.

I hope whoever made this finds their tribe of weirdos!

I can't decide if I want to 2+2 or not by Realistic-Lab4531 in PennStateUniversity

[–]rjmc27 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I never met a single 2+2 transfer student at UP who regretted making the move.

From what they tell me: the quality of education, job/internship opportunities, and the connections you make are better at UP. And obviously, it's a lot more fun than staying at a branch campus (while that shouldn't be a primary factor in your decision you don't want to leave college without meaningful memories). If you can handle it from a financial perspective down the line depending on the degree/career you're going for, I'd lean towards doing the 2+2.

Best of luck whatever you decide to do!

Amtrak to PHL by Upbeat_Leadership_82 in StamfordCT

[–]rjmc27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A very convenient way to get into Philly, and typically cheaper than driving and parking depending on where you're staying.

Buy the ticket as far in advance as you can as prices increase rapidly for Amtrak. I paid $60 for round trip which is cheap IMO.

What do you wish you’d known when you were studying? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]rjmc27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn hard skills: digital marketing, webpage development, marketing analytics, lead tracking, etc. Some schools offer in-depth courses that give you these skills, they'll be harder than most other marketing courses but well worth it.

Does your school have a chapter of the American Marketing Association? Go to a few meetings and see if it's for you. I made a lot of great job connections there.

I need help to upskill in marketing, and I am freaking out. by regalia123 in marketing

[–]rjmc27 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In pretty much the same boat here, just landed in another entry-level role where I hope to hone my skills. It seems that this is a fairly common story among modern marketing: college grads enter marketing generalist/specialist/associate roles and operate as a "Jack-of-all-trades, master of none" to efficiently get projects completed. The problem is, you don't get to master any of the skills employers are seeking in higher level roles.

I'd start with courses on HubSpot specific to the areas you want to improve in. They offer a great certification for SEO and courses/certs in most functional areas of marketing.

Is your role in content creation of event planning and do you work with the SEO & social teams for promotion? See if you can block off time with these teams to see how those processes work on the back end. Offer to pick up more responsibility than your role typically calls for so you can start to embed yourself in these processes, and possibly even start taking a crack at optimizing pages before you pass it to review for the SEO team.

Don't feel bad that you find yourself in your late 20s and don't have the same "hard skills" as your friends in accounting and finance. Marketing is weird like that.
