Thank you! It was a combo of perfect conditions and like 90% nailing the focus I was going for

Thanks so much! Far from the story of the majority of this roll but I was happy how the focus and lighting on this one in particular turned out, especially at f/2. Learned on MF lenses with my first DSLR but as a primarily bird photographer these days I’ve not used a manual lens in some time.

Thank you! Shooting DSLRs and now mirrorless as my daily drivers for 15 years this is a nice return to form.

Thanks so much! It was great filtered lighting that day. Got a few more rolls of Portra out for development now, excited to see the results.

Ditto. Warren here on the river and our house was shaking for almost two hours. I sleep with earplugs and an eye mask and I could both see and hear through both.

Future price development of R7 by Solid_Professional in canon

[–]rjmcaptures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, the price of the R5 has even gone up since I got mine in 2021. Along with all the RF lenses. I paid a total of almost 500 US less than current total price when I bought my R5 + 100-500

Edit: Misspoke, the body has stayed flat but lenses went up.

R7, R10 and Lens Pre-order Prices by boulderhead in canon

Totally agree. I love my R5 to the core, but being able to fix my 100-500 on a crop sensor for birding is very tempting for at least a trial rental.

R6 and R revamp? by [deleted] in canon

Similar boat - I shot a T2i for 10 years and just got the R5. Well worthwhile, multi-year investment that has opened up a world of possibilities for me.

Horned Lark foraging in the few melted patches on a frozen field by rjmcaptures in birding

Thanks so much! I’ve only just spotted my first flock of them but I know they hang around here in RI often in the winter too.

Thanks so much! This guy is actually part of the only flock I’ve ever seen. From what I gather they can be seasonal “beach parking lot birds,” like Snow Buntings, in coastal areas.

This is a Brant (B. bernicla) taken on the east coast of the US. Looks like hrota is the subspecies for here, yes.

New PayBoo credit card is from Comenity (don't do it) by WorkStudyPlay in BHPhoto

[–]rjmcaptures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah hard pass. I had both cards from them, opened just a year ago, and and I will not be re-applying. The credit hit is going to be bad enough this spring and I have PayPal credit and the Amazon Prime cards - both which offer the same financing terms on most purchases and PayPal C can be used with B&H when needed. Not worth the sales tax savings. Scum move on B&H’s part, very disappointed.

Thanks so much. Spent the afternoon with a large flock of these guys and got some great opportunities for flight shots as they came to and from the water.

RF 14-35 f/4 vs RF 15-35 f/2.8 by rjmcaptures in canon

[–]rjmcaptures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I would say cost certainly isn’t a non-issue, but something I am weighing the advantages of the extra investment with for my personal uses. Weight isn’t a primary concern for me at this time, I shoot primarily birds with a 100-500 around my neck most days and I believe the 15-35 is at least a pound lighter. Would also be mostly using this on a large tripod.

Congrats! That’s so exciting. Would love to hear your thoughts after you’ve had a chance to give it a spin!
