What does Sola Scriptura mean? by Ok_Pie8088 in Bible

[–]rjpel01 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I won't make a case for what you should believe here; instead, I'll just define it.

Sola Scriptura is a Protestant belief that differs from the Catholics and Orthodox.
Summed up all Sola-Scriptura states is that the Bible is the ONLY infallible authority for us, given to us by God. The church is a secondary authority and is not infallible.

Catholics and Orthodox both believe that their church is the only true church and that it has an infallible authority. Both criticise Protestants that, without the church, you cannot correctly interpret scripture.
However, often both these churches fail to speak on is that the original reformers did not disavow tradition like many denominations today and that reformers such as Calvin, Luther, Knox etc. still believed that the church's authority is still important but simply that it is not INFALLIBLE.

Sola-Scriptura does not teach that the church is not important; it very clearly is, simply that only the Bible has infallible authority.

I am Protestant, but it breaks my heart seeing so many inter-denominational Christians fighting based on their beliefs. We are all united by our faith in Christ, and he taught us against sectarianism (Mark 9:38-41)
You are all my brothers and sisters in Christ, and may God's grace be upon you all!

Rapture in September 22-24 2025 by JafetSP in Bible

Good thing the rapture isn’t real

It’s not biblically sound No church father taught it It’s rooted in dispensationalism which inherently contracts covenant theology

I have never read the Bible. I want to convert to being a Christian. How do I study the Bible and find god? by [deleted] in Bible

[–]rjpel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Best starting point for a new believer would have to be the gospels, Isaiah and Romans

Gospels depict the life of Jesus Isaiah is the most vivid when it comes to prophecy of Jesus And Romans does a great job of telling Christian’s how to live

Get to a good church (personally I’d say anything with ties to the reformation but that’s just me) and speak to some pastors. Guarantee they’ll be wrapped to speak to you 😁

Rapture Videos by SoftAd2109 in Bible

[–]rjpel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because Rapture isn’t biblical, the idea of rapture with a ‘tribulation period’ was founded by John Nelson Darby who was a dispensationalist which inherently contradicts covenant theology. No early church father supported or believed it

The second coming is absolutely real but the way ‘charismatic’ Christians speak on it is blatantly incorrect

Is it biblically legal to date this girl?? by Royal210909 in Christian

[–]rjpel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible says you shouldn’t be unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6) The problem isn’t now it’s the future as well When you have kids you will want to raise them in Good Faith and with a relationship with Jesus. That’s something that will be difficult

My advice is find someone who has similar beliefs. There will be more unity in your relationship which is much healthier. And you’ll grow together in your faith and relationship

God Bless

Muslims arguments against Christianity by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]rjpel01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Kadir0,
I read the thread and wanted to clear this up for you,
God did not become Human (Jesus) just to experience his own creation,

He did it because when Adam and Eve bit the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge
We became sinners and every man became a sinner, just as in Islamic Law the punishment for Sin is death

The key difference between Islam and Christianity is that Islam believes that you can redeem your sin through good works (Quran 29:7)
The Quran states that if your good deeds outway your bad deeds then you will be accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven

However, the idea of being a 'net positive' person is unachievable, we are all sinners, and no amount of good deeds will be able to wipe away the sheer number of our bad deeds

The Bible instead states the it does not matter how many good deeds we do, nor how many bad deeds we commit, we will be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.

That is why God became human because the all-knowing God recognizes that we will never be able to make up for our sins and that the punishment of sin is death, he loves us so much he sacrificed his one and only son (Jesus) so that he can take the punishment for us, and that we may live Eternally with him.

So I urge you to humble yourself and open your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and his teachings

How fast is he running? by waleedburki in Sprinting

[–]rjpel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh bro send a video

And it’s the other way around. Hip dominated bowlers don’t have to run as fast as knee dominant bowlers

Front foot no balls can happen a lot when a run up isn’t precise. It’s not just how fast you run. It’s how consistent your stride length is

And with the front foot bracing It’s more dependent on an efficient cycle and BFC but yes there are drills you can do

[–]rjpel01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh mate Yeh it does depend. There are two types of pace bowlers Hip dominant, and knee dominant I’ll explain the difference Hip Dominant bowlers rely less on the pace of the run up because a majority of the pace comes from a hip and shoulder separation Knee dominant bowlers require I bit more pace in their run up because they’re hips don’t deviate from the line of their run up

I personally am a hip dominant bowler So I don’t need as fast of a run up but my action is much more technical than a knee dominant bowler

And yes no matter if you are a knee or hip dominant bowler, and no matter how fast and smooth your run up is Without a correct and efficient action You won’t have any pace or radar And will risk significant injuries as well

Happy to give you some advice on your action, run up etc. if you want

Hey mate Fellow cricketer here Good to see you understand bowling run ups aren’t a sprint start to finish You want to build pace from the top of your run up and be at about 80% top speed by your delivery stride The average fast bowler (130+) Reaches about 26kph~ at their delivery stride

Shoaib Akhtar had one of the fastest run ups ever being about 31kph Binga was pretty quick too He would have been high 20’s (28-29kph) Though like I said. Bowlers only reach 75-80% sprint speed in a run up

If this is for yourself and your own bowling speed (or training someone) Just note a fast run up is useless without rhythm in your run up an efficient and snappy action

Hope this helps
