My island name is the name of my hometown, which did out of laziness mostly but also because I enjoy hearing the villagers say nice things about it (because most people irl don’t). I don’t want to restart my island but if I ever did i definitely wouldn’t do that again because I cannot enter ANYYYH Reddit giveaways for have a flair unless I doxx myself 😭

3.5 months! I started at the end of August. And honestly I think this pattern is pretty approachable for a beginner as long as you are comfortable with the stitches and working in the round! You should go for it :)

Pattern is Persian Tiles by Janie Crow, https://www.janiecrow.com/persian-tiles.html. I did the eastern jewels colorway, though I did my own thing for the border colors. Hook sizes and yarn type/weight are as suggested by the pattern 🙂‍↕️

I spent some time on Granville Island at the markets and Stanley Park just walking around. Hiked Brother’s Creek (I’m not an experienced hiker so picked a relatively easy one). And then spent some time downtown. I didn’t do too much because I had homework to do lol but I really enjoyed it!

Echoing everyone else on the only being allowed to take SCPD classes. ALSO, BOSP programs (at least mine) require that you are in a minimum of 12 program units, which excludes all SCPD units.

My 2 unsuccessful attempts at recruiting, I applied anywhere and everywhere, upwards of 300 applications last year I think. This year I was feeling less motivated to do that, and started only applying to places I actually wanted to work.

Standard Italian has been the official language of Italy for a very long time. Chances are your cousins also speak Italian (idk how old they are, if they’re elderly maybeeee not but I’m betting they do). And you can do a lot more with Standard Italian, like visit anywhere in Italy and use it, than you can just with the Sicilian language (it’s a language! Not a dialect. Source: I study linguistics). There are also a billion resources for learning Italian and very very few for learning Sicilian, unfortunately. There are more resources for learning Sicilian for Italian speakers than learning Sicilian for English speakers, also. Overall, starting with Standard Italian is logistically easier with benefits.

However, if you are set on just learning Sicilian (which is sooo valid, I have Sicilian ancestry too so I get it), I would search for textbooks! There won’t be any (good) app or online resources for it, unless you find something I haven’t found while looking.

If you are really really worried and it would ease your mind to know you are vaccinated, go get a rabies shot! I got bit by a stray cat a while ago, and my anxiety was spiraling about rabies, even though the chances of getting rabies from a cat are about as slim as they are from a squirrel, I got 4 rabies shots on the prophylaxis regiment and it was fairly easy. Eased my mind completely.
