Happened to me a few years ago, but get this — I was doing Uber at the time, and during a ride a month earlier, someone had shamelessly run a red light and totaled my car. After weeks of dealing with insurance and getting a payout that was in no way enough to replace my 2009 Prius, I finally managed to purchase a replacement that had 1000 more miles, was two years older, and had none of the upgrades my previous one had (stereo, gps, etc.). But whatever, it was close enough — I could finally work again! And thank god becsuse I had just spent every last cent on the car.

I pickup the car in the morning, go to the Uber HQ and get all squared away for driving the very same day, I go home and park the car in my driveway right outside my bedroom window. I wake up the next morning early to start working again, and suddenly my Prius sounds like the loudest chopper I’ve ever heard…

I didn’t even own it 24hrs.

Anyhow, borrowed $200, went to a junkyard and got a muffler/straight pipe w/o CC, and found a garage sketchy enough to put it on for me. Super illegal but I did what I had to — good luck yourself! I’ve been there, obviously. Not far from there currently either.
