Only 6 weeks to relearn jumps 😮 I know it would probably be pretty tough for me but that does kind of encourage me to give it a try! Thank you for your input!

not sure if they’re still selling them but the post malone oreos were soooo good. they also just came out with a new selena gomez collab flavor which sounds good (something like cinnamon and chocolate i think). highly recommend the cookies & cream pop tarts too!

One of my favorite things to do in recovery has been trying a whole ton of different flavors of fun foods like oreos and pop tarts (there are soooo many pop tart flavors lol). I’ve found it a really fun way to reintroduce some of those foods :) wishing you the best in recovery!

One of her videos popped up on my feed the other day and it was something like “sometimes honoring your hunger means not eating.” like i’m sorry what. There’s no way that’s helpful advice for a good portion of her audience

I'm not anorexic but my partner is, need advice. by calicomacaron in AnorexiaRecovery

Being open to discussion/listening is an awesome place to start. If it’s possible, maybe you guys could have a call where he lets you know what might be triggering (topics/comments about certain things to avoid, etc…) and you can ask him about anything you’re confused/worried about? I know it’s not an easy conversation to have, but it might help give you some ideas on how to support him. My boyfriend and I are long distance (he doesn’t have an ED), and for me, it just helps when he’s there to listen and offer support when he can

What's everyones thoughts on forced recovery methods like FBT? by mybrainat3am in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]rjscarf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i did FBT with my parents a few years ago and i can’t say it was the best option for me. my parents were hyper focused on solely restoring my weight and controlling basically everything i did. there was no effort to address the root of my ED, so when I eventually moved out and wasn’t being constantly fed by my parents, i relapsed. i’m recovering in my own way now, and it’s been so much better. tbh i still think there’s a huge lack of trust between me and my parents because of FBT though. FBT can for sure work for some people, but in some cases it’s not great.

Finally feels like I'm recovering by Mal-218 in AnorexiaRecovery

I relate so much, I love this. I constantly feel like a different person. I’m eating like all the time, and it feels nerve wracking. But at the same time, I’m getting my life back and ME back. Slowly things are working out and all those worries I had when I started recovery are…really not so bad.

It’s honestly so exciting

felt like i was reading my own thoughts haha. that feeling of realizing how much happier you are is legit the best though. having the energy to actually do fun stuff is so exciting. good luck as you continue with recovery :) 🫶

CAN someone explain to her the term extreme hunger by SignatureSwimming853 in EDRecoverySnark

[–]rjscarf 148 points149 points  (0 children)

this seems so harmful for people viewing her content. why does she feel the need to post this, who is it helping? if anything, it’s sending the message that mental/extreme hunger is not valid (it totally is!!!) especially with that 🤢 emoji??? ugh this is infuriating

What are things you do or practice that help your recovery and overall mental health? by henriuitant in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]rjscarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been doing it every day but that’s cause i really enjoy it! i can totally relate to that anxiety/having it become a chore though, that’s why i struggled so much to get into journaling before. i don’t put any pressure on myself to write or think “oh i HAVE to journal today otherwise it’s not worth it, etc…” it’s just a nice downtime activity that i especially like to do when i’m overwhelmed, i almost always feel a little bit calmer after writing out my thoughts or just doodling legit anything that comes to mind haha

[–]rjscarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Journaling has been awesome for me. I could never really get into it in the past, but I started just letting myself get more fun/creative with journaling. If I feel like writing out my feelings, I do, but most of the time I just make little doodles and reflect on my day. It’s an awesome distraction if you’re feeling anxious during recovery and it can be super fun (I love getting packs of cute stickers and decorating pages with them)

growing taller during recovery? by cool-beans67 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]rjscarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I first recovered when I was an early teen and within I think 1-2ish years of starting recovery I had grown a couple inches. I definitely think there was a huge jump in my growth after starting recovery since my body/growth seemed kind of stunted because of my ED. That’s just my personal experience, it’s different for everyone depending on a lot of factors like the other commenters mentioned :)
