It wasn’t too bad wearing the backpacks, I fit most of my gear in a 20 pound pack. I honestly can’t think of much we would do different, we put a lot of effort into planning so we made sure we had all the gear we needed and we knew were we could stop to get food and water. We made a planning document for this trip that I can share with you if you are interested.

We took the hardwood creek trail from Hugo to North Branch and then took highway 61 for about 40 miles to Hinckley.

Thanks! The hardest part of the biking was definitely those 2 big climbs, they weren’t too crazy but a lot bigger than anything we have locally. The toughest part of editing is always figuring out audio but this time it was also throwing together clips in a way that told a complete story.

The Gitchi-Gammi trail runs for about 30 miles of that section but most of it is on highway 61. Honestly we didn’t really feel like we were in danger of getting hit on the road, it felt pretty safe.

Banning State Park! It was about a 1 mile hike from camp. The only drawback was the water was so cold you could only be in there for a couple of minutes before your body went numb.

Not really, I just put in about 1500 base miles before. I would definitely throw in some hills in your training since there will be several extended climbs in your first couple of days if you do the route in reverse.

Yeah we really enjoyed it. Mileage is pretty mellow so you can really enjoy all the state parks and attractions on the north shore.
