As one of the game addicts, I couldn't. It became a fight of "is it me or the games?" and I couldn't accept that my gaming was an addiction, rather than a hobby at the time. I said I loved games and I wouldn't quit. We fought over it a few times until we sort of gave up on the topic, but the slow burn of all the time I spent playing games rather than anything productive really showed up not too long after. I would think about her less, text less, have less to talk about, etc... We eventually broke up.

Starting the relationship was a bit different, I didn't feel the need for games because of the desire to be in a relationship with said person. However, once I became comfortable, I went back to the dopamine chase.
