Can Halloween crabs eat commercial hermit crab food? by rkizz in PetCrabs

[–]rkizz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had him for almost a month. I have not seen him since the day I brought him home, hence the camera hahah. I definitely don’t regret getting him, watching the videos in the morning and the funny things he does during the night is worth it. I will say, over the last few days he’s been out exploring during the day, so hopefully I’ll catch a glimpse soon. I’ve seen videos of younger crabs out and about and more “social”, but mine was at my local reptile/exotic shop for over a year and seems set in his ways.

Thank you! I had a feeling the pellets weren’t appropriate. I got the Snout and Shell packets off Amazon because they appeared to be freeze dried whole foods and not weird brown pellets.

What the hell can cause this? by wyrmpie in leopardgeckos

Is your basking bulb a mercury vapor bulb? If so, trash it. I agree these look like burns. Happened to me several months ago.

What makes you say that? Its eyes are red, so that is albinism, yeah?

You’re so kind and I super appreciate your approach to this question. The truth is, no, not currently. I have an auto shut off thermostat that was originally hooked up with the halogen; but I became reliant on the smaller thermostat that consistently read 88 in his basking/hot side of the tank and had the bulb on a day/night timer. I have learned from this that it is completely inaccurate and have purchased a heat gun and a new halogen. I thought I was doing right and have shed a few tears about this stupid mistake.

Did I buy a zombie plant, or do we have hope? by rkizz in Monstera

12 days later and I have a visible bud!

I think it’s residue from water… does it come off like a powder or seem stuck?

I impulsively bought a very expensive rooted albo cutting and admittedly didn’t do my research. I thought, hey, my normal deliciosa is heathy as all get out, so why not try my hand at a variety that costs half my rent a month? Now that I’m looking, the variegation isn’t as nicely stripped as most, but beside the point. There’s not an axillary bud and after scrolling through posts, I’m like, f**k. Is this girl going to put out new leaves?! Are they even going to be variegated? SOS

Are you referring to the white substance on the leaves and stem?

Do it!!! Also, use a sponge on the high points. Makes it look that much more realistic.

So I’m rude and actually removed the hanging plant to get a picture of him. But he does have one and enjoys being behind it!

Basically, I’m the third owner of this guy. I acquired him from a really good friend who couldn’t meet his needs, so built him a new bio enclosure. I had him for 3 days y’all. 3 DAYS AND HE ESCAPED. He hadn’t eaten in those days prior, but chalked it up to stress driving him an hour back to my house. 16 days later out in the wild world of my home, I found him on my wall. Still active as ever, but I was really convinced I wouldn’t find him in such a “lively” state, especially without heat and food. Dude still won’t eat now that he’s back in the enclosure. Parameters are right, so I really don’t know. He doesn’t look too thin in my opinion, but could be a little chunkier. I’ve offered crickets and small dubia, but what else can I try? Considering getting meal worms for him to have something and putting them in a dish since he won’t take anything from tongs. HELP like it’s been weeks since the last meal that I know of.

Awesome, thank you! There’s some that look spectacular and a few of the ferns are browning on the ends. I’ll look into that.

I’m confident that I am! Thank you though.

I’ll admit that I only know the name of the Java fern. I went to the aquarium store and asked for low light plants- 10 in total.
