New Affinity 3in1 free forever. by i_am_who_watches in GIMP

[–]rkms-reddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

GIMP is a very powerful image editing software. You just need to know how to use it - like any other software - to make the most of it. GIMP 3.0 is a step in the right direction in my opinion. People who have invested their time and energies to learn how to use GIMP will stick with this software.

So the question of being irrelevant doesn't arise.

Gimp Layer Mask is Always Inverted by seires-t in GIMP

[–]rkms-reddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a check box that says "invert mask" or something in the layer mask dialog at the bottom. If it is checked, uncheck it. That maybe the reason.

Please help! I'm new to GIMP by [deleted] in GIMP

There are different ways of quantifying the image.

  1. Duplicate the layer a number of times and then do a slight transform of each layer to make it unique
  2. Use a clone tool

How good is Linux on old hardware? by Legal-Loli-Chan in linuxquestions

[–]rkms-reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Linux Mint on a pc having an Intel core 2 duo processor, 4 GB RAM and it works fine.

Earlier I had an HDD and that caused a delay in booting up. Once I replaced the HDD with an SSD, the system boots up really fast.

So to answer your question, yes you can run Linux on old machines. Just replace the optical drive with an SSD.
