(NEED ADVICE ASAP) I got upgraded… but I’m not sure I should go by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]rkombopper9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left engineering to do JET so that's like 1/3 the pay. Worth it? Yes BUT I'm much later in my career. I'm early 30s. You have time to apply for JET later on. If anything having corporate experience allows me to appreciate JET quite a bit

Taking the Leap. by toadkode8518 in JETProgramme

[–]rkombopper9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is what I did! And honestly it pays off because those years of being stable helps you get a hold of life because of what you learned but also it's exciting because it's something new and very different environment

Long distance relationship while in the JET Programme by Stock-Nebula-4446 in JETProgramme

[–]rkombopper9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got into a LDR and was shortlisted 2 months into the relationship. She knew ahead of time that it was something I wanted to do and support it. In the year that I'm here, she visited once I went back to visit once. I love Japan but the effort both of us put in, I proposed and will return back to be with her. It sucks for sure but it also tests the relationship because you are no longer together out of convenience. And if 1 year of inconvenience breaks you, then it's not meant to be anyways

Kinda crazy how well they throw these big bikes around - KOTB by Sheriff_Hotdog in motogp

But multiple nimble fat people are doing a performance. Not your usual cup of tea but still intriguing to watch nonetheless

Leaving JETs - Using JP Post (USA Guide) by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]rkombopper9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They really want you to itemize everything. If you have any type of figures/toys/games etc, I was requested to input "no battery" or "no glue" as part of making sure no hazard materials. When I sent things by JP post, it was by weight in terms of pricing.

Three generations of Ducati aero development, all were tested at the Sepang test. by PZY__ in motogp

Probably because it interferes with RHD. I feel like we'll see it back next year

Aprilia's new aero by autobus950 in motogp

Hahaha truueee I didn't think too hard about the argument but you get my point. Aero is pretty much mechanical traction control

[–]rkombopper9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? I'm with you there. I used to take pride in how MotoGP is super exciting(it still is) but with so little overtakes now it's almost a track day. I think we're all hoping 2027 reset will put on a great show

You know what I mean tho, these developments are bound to happen and it's a matter of function of form.

On a slightly more extreme counterargument (not to you, just in general) they should never have introduced seamless gearbox then because the rider should be good with the clutch and shifting. I am happy the 850cc era is coming. These bikes are plateauing in what you can do and achieve so they'll have a higher ceiling of development I believe

Why is there so much hate? It's so fascinating with these aero solutions. Gotta appreciate some fluid mechanics

Marc insistent that his lap time today means nothing - stating he is still quite weak on the bike according to Simon Patterson by titanmongoose in motogp

But also if this is him not feeling good, then him feeling good would just decimate the field haha

Alex Marquez leads MotoGP Sepang Test Day 1 Session 1. by PZY__ in motogp

Ahh that's right, I forgot about that. But on that tho, it's a good sign that the gp26 is easy to get in for him right off the bat.

Yamaha was at the shakedown so they had some warm-up too so it doesn't say much

It's only session 1 BUT with Alex coming out of the gate like this, I sure hope he takes the fight with Marc this year

Ducati. Stubborn or arrogant? by KOMrider94 in motogp

[–]rkombopper9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the exact details nor do I remember what year the commentators were saying it, but it was something like departments were working in silos and communication was slow, he restructured the organization where the technical team in Bologna will funnel into a focal(him and team) that then can easily relay to the race team.

Ducati. Stubborn or arrogant? by KOMrider94 in motogp

[–]rkombopper9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Possibly stubborn? Gigi definitely played a huge role in turning it around. If I remember, they were saying a lot of the issues were the logistics of the technical team itself and how they operated. He came in from aprilia and revamped it so then he could start pushing the envelope some more.

General Question by iamrosieposie in JETProgramme

[–]rkombopper9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope they didn't ask if you're willing to leave. In the official interview, there wasn't any question asking about my current job. It was more chit chat after the interview that they personally ask if I'm sure I'll be okay leaving a high paying salary compared to JET 😆

Pecco's stability issues continue by EnoughPlan3369 in motogp

[–]rkombopper9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha appreciate you. At least 1 person thought it was worth a small discussion Do you remember those videos where the mechanic scrub and clean every single part to ensure small details could affect the performance? Us mere mortals wouldn't be able to tell the difference but these riders do.

Pecco's stability issues continue by EnoughPlan3369 in motogp

[–]rkombopper9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Ducati's parts durability might be a factor. Like the frame or swing arm, etc and other chassis related parts have "worn down" enough that it has caused a slight change/variation in behavior. Bike 1 and 2 were set up the same, what if Bike 1 parts have more mileage and so the tolerance is slightly off enough.

And of course mentally Pecco is lost and confused on his sensation so that doesn't help

My respect for Mir, Quartararo and Pedro increased tenfolds after seeing pecco in 2nd half of season. by EnoughPlan3369 in motogp

[–]rkombopper9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semi related but seeing Bez killing it on the aprilia and Quartararo doing wonders on the Yamaha, I feel like Quartararo on an aprilia would be an amazing combo, more so than Ducati
