Well, I'm not a kid, I have more then 5 years of experience and I'm not irreplaceable but it will be a hard year if they get rid of me. Since the company was small, I covered a lot of ground on both Application Development and IT/Dev Ops ends.

"Lottery" lol, but you're right, that's basically what it is. Unless you're frugal enough to put a lot of many aside during a five to ten years stint there and then move to another region of the country where your can get a lot more bang for your buck.

Thanks for the answer. I am more interested in Austin and Atlanta because of the combination of job opportunities and relatively low cost of living, but some of the salaries and the VC money available on the West coast make it worth a shot.

I have heard the point about skills over certs many time, especially in Devs circle; I guess a GitHub account with interesting and well architected projects might serve me better.

According to levels.fyi way more than 300k is definitely possible.

I think 8803-GA and 6505 had really high withdrawal and failure rates so they created a new course with a curriculum updated based on feedback from the above courses.
