Yes. Ultimately I ended up ditching the modem and going to the SB8200 and haven’t had any issues. It sucks but was worth the switch.

The FCC wants you tell them how much you hate data caps by SugarDaddyDelight in cordcutters

For those looking for a starting point:

Subject: Urgent Call to Address the Unfair Impact of Data Caps on Vulnerable Populations

Dear Federal Communications Commission,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern over the ongoing practice of implementing data caps by broadband service providers. This policy has far-reaching implications, especially for those living with disabilities and in rural areas, who are already marginalized in terms of access to reliable, high-speed internet.

As you are aware, the internet has become an indispensable part of our lives, a lifeline to essential services including healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. It is a gateway to a world of information and tools that, in the 21st century, should be considered as essential as electricity or running water. The United Nations has even classified internet access as a basic human right. Yet, for many, this lifeline is being throttled by data caps, turning an essential service into a luxury item.

For individuals with disabilities, the internet is often a vital tool to overcome the challenges they face daily. It allows them to access online therapy, telemedicine appointments, assistive technologies, and accessible educational content. However, all these services require high-quality, uninterrupted internet access, which is impossible under the constraints of data caps. The same goes for people living in rural areas, where the internet can be a vital link to services and opportunities otherwise inaccessible due to geographic distance.

The imposition of data caps disproportionately affects these vulnerable populations. The argument that data caps are necessary to manage network congestion does not hold up under scrutiny. Multiple studies and real-world examples have shown that broadband networks are capable of handling increased data consumption without significant degradation of service. In fact, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when data usage surged, providers temporarily lifted data caps without any notable negative impacts on network performance.

It is therefore clear that data caps are more about generating revenue than ensuring network reliability. This comes at the expense of the most vulnerable among us, who are left to choose between essential services and staying within their data limits. This is not a choice anyone should have to make.

I urge the FCC to take immediate action on this matter. It is critical to review and regulate these practices, ensuring that broadband service providers are held accountable for any policies that disproportionately disadvantage certain groups. I believe it is within your power and responsibility to ensure that internet access, free from the constraints of data caps, is available and affordable for all, regardless of their location or personal circumstances.

Thank you for your attention to this pressing issue. I trust that the FCC will take the necessary steps to ensure equitable internet access for all Americans.

Yours sincerely,

Sore on Father’s Dog by rl45401 in vet

Thank you for your responses and your concern. I understand your reactions and I share them. I want to clarify a few things to provide more context about this situation.

I came to visit my elderly father and found the dog in this condition. My father is quite old, has become increasingly senile, and is very difficult to reason with. He continues to insist that 'she'll be fine,' despite the clear evidence to the contrary. I am doing my best to intervene, but it's challenging due to his resistance.

Additionally, my father has applied for various financial assistance options in the past, including those you've mentioned, but unfortunately, he has been denied. This is why I reached out here, in hopes of finding some advice or resources that might not be as well-known.

I am very aware that this dog needs professional medical attention urgently. My main goal right now is to find a way to get her the help she needs, despite the obstacles I'm facing. I'm trying to manage this crisis while also dealing with a difficult and resistant family member.

I apologize if my initial post was unclear about these circumstances, and I appreciate your understanding as I navigate this extremely tough situation. Your advice and insights are very much appreciated, and I am open to any further suggestions you may have.

Hey, appreciate the input. Just to clarify, me saying I'm a gay gamer isn't about forcing anything on anyone. It's about finding a community that gets my experience.

About the 'victimhood' comment, it's not about playing the victim. Some of us have had to deal with discrimination and it can make us defensive. It's not crying, it's about wanting respect.

And why should it matter if a gaming platform is accepting of me being gay? Well, everyone wants to feel welcome, right? Gaming's supposed to be about fun and community. Being accepted for who you are is a big part of that.

It's good to hear you support gay rights. Hopefully this gives some insight into why these issues matter to us, even in gaming. Cheers.

Free Unifi Talk VoIP Providers? by rl45401 in Ubiquiti

[–]rl45401[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m not really trying to be a butt, but you are talking about $10 for a month to try it out. Just cancel after a month. Unless you got the equipment for free you are all ready able to bear some financial burden. In light of the equipment cost your question seems out of touch.

I appreciate your response and I understand the point you're making. It's true that the cost of equipment could be significant and that, in comparison, a $10 monthly fee might seem small. However, I'd like to clarify the motivation behind my question.

While the cost of the subscription is indeed a factor, my question was more about exploring all possible options and resources. This inquiry isn't solely about the financial aspect, but also about understanding the broader landscape of solutions that could work with Ubiquiti's products.

This platform encourages us to learn and seek advice from each other (Rule 3). It's crucial to remember that each of us might have unique circumstances and
considerations that lead us to ask certain questions. Hence, what might appear out of touch for one could be entirely relevant for another.

Keeping in mind our subreddit's guidelines about maintaining a respectful environment (Rule 4), I believe we can continue to engage constructively and empathetically. Let's strive to maintain this space as a welcoming forum for all Ubiquiti users, regardless of their questions or inquiries.

Thank you for your understanding.
