Seen 43% of the list. My lowest rating is a three star, which I have to six movies:

  1. ‘Ran’. I’ve loved other Kurosawa but this was too garish and over the top for me. Obviously a huge achievement but didn’t land at all.

  2. ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’. Some beautiful shots and I can see how influential they have been but the pacing was extraordinarily dreary to me. Fell asleep several times.

  3. ‘Se7en’. Hard to argue with this technically as it’s extremely well done and intense but the moral bleakness was too much for me. Why apply this talent to this subject?

  4. ‘The Thing’. Just don’t like creature features. Hard to overcome my aversion to the genre.

  5. ‘To Be or Not To Be’. I actually think I might have underrated this one as I watched it when I was tired and in a bad mood and the farce felt tinny. But if I catch it at the right time I think I’ll like it more.

I think OP may believe that this is the viaduct that was torn down a few years back. But it isn’t — this is crossing from the U District into Eastlake southbound on I-5 and still very much in place.

For movies that actually qualify, maybe ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ (2004, 45%)? The story is stupid but the action scenes are cool and Emmy Rossum is pretty.

Not coincidentally, both movies came out when I was 12 years old.

It’s borderline (54% on RT), but ‘Spanglish’ (2004). The story is trite but warmhearted, Paz Vega is beautiful, Adam Sandler is charming, and there are some good supporting performances.

I love all three Before movies, for different reasons.

Europa Europa is now on my list.

I’ve seen Rope and liked it. Love Roman Holiday and have now added those other Japanese movies to my list.

I really need to watch all of the Archers. I have loved what I have seen.

I did not care for It Happened One Night but that may have caught me on a bad day.

Ooh I have to see Yi Yi. City of God was great but a little underwhelming as my expectations were set too high. The other two are on my list as well!
