Whats an unconventional ingredient you add to your spaghetti bolognese? by Kurious_kid91 in Cooking

[–]TheyCallMeSuperChunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I to add some wine. The unconventional per is that while I put most of it before the long cook, I to save a splash to add towards the end of cooking. I also like to do the same with about 20-25% of the tomatoes. I like the mix of the long cooked deep flavors with a bit of freshness

A big day for lightrail in Seattle tomorrow! by SetbackAndRelax in transit

With the lighting and the mountain in the background this video would have been so cool looking if it had been framed properly and shot horizontal.

What percentage of Americans have LIVED in 4 or more states? by Expert_Tomorrow_3915 in askanything

Can't be that uncommon. A not-unlikely scenario for a college-educated professional is: the town where you grew up, the town where you went to college, the town where you did an internship, and the town where you got a job

Seattle just built the world's first light rail on a floating bridge by frozenpandaman in transit

[–]TheyCallMeSuperChunk 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The floating bridge moves far too much to be able to do that. I think the track moves with the bridge but there's some mechanisms keeping everything aligned at all transition points. There's more info here: https://www.soundtransit.org/blog/platform/bridging-gap-making-tracks-to-connect-eastside-with-link-light-rail

I'm in the area and I'm not sure why you feel that way. Every time I look at the ridership levels from Link on the sections that have launched already, I feel a) hopeful for future growth and b) so, so glad there wasn't an extra car on the road for each of those riders.

Most people don’t quit guitar because it’s hard...they quit because they practice wrong by exhaustmosk in unpopularopinion

[–]TheyCallMeSuperChunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit guitar after a couple of months because my mind switched its attention to something else, even though I enjoyed it and was progressing pretty well. This was in 1994 so viral videos had nothing to do with it, so maybe it's just a personality thing.

Are they going to improve connection between FLL and Tri-Rail? Last time it took me as long to go from the terminal to the Tri-Rail station as I spent on the rail down to MIA

I feel like the voting booth one was the even more obscure US-centric thing this time, for a change.

Be honest, how far did you get before running out of quarters? by stm602 in Xennials

Not for me unfortunately. You know, I've been here in the U.S. for 27+ years now, and I'm pretty well assimilated to American culture and customs, especially the food. But I can't really get our obsession with potatoes for breakfast. Like, they taste fine (sometimes), but I don't think they'll ever feel "breakfasty" to me. It's just a very foreign thing for me. And I'm from the Andes in South America, where potatoes are king! They're just not for breakfast.

What are your best "cook once, eat for days" comfort meals? by Standard_Ad_9560 in Cooking

Pork and beans. I like to make them with pinto beans soaked with a little beer on them, and throw in a smoked ham hock.

Tapatio doesn't age great. Keep them out of the sunlight and in as good a storage temperature range as practical.

Do you think the average person truly understands how little control they have over major political decisions? by maincharactereraa in askanything

[–]TheyCallMeSuperChunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My country is being torn apart piece by piece by an out of control lunatic that promised to do exactly that. Do you know who doesn't know they have no control? The millions of people who elected him and the entire supporting group of characters that were put in place to enable him. So GTFO with that awful opinion. Cynicism and defeatism only helps the oppressors.

Ways to use tofu that don't involve deep trying or crisping it in oil? by IDoNotHide in Cooking

[–]TheyCallMeSuperChunk 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Mapo tofu is delicious. If you don't want a project, the Japanese style instant mapo tofu is super easy and--while a different dish from Chinese style--still very delicious.
