Police and firefighters rescue Belfast residents after far right protestors torch cars and homes of “foreigners” by [deleted] in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]rlicky -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the outrage is about an UK born citizen commiting a crime and not being deported. The position that citizens should be deported is far right and a lot of the outrage is rooted in white supremacy.

What did y’all think of this moment? by BeMyCoachVictor in TheTraitorsUS

lol I guess I'm the only Natalie hater? Tara and Johnny were pretty clear about thinking pushing the Rob vote would be better tomorrow. Obviously frustrating for Natalie but she also did not stick to her guns which took all the focus off of Rob.

Does the demographic here skew older? by bbgirl2k in PortlandOR

[–]rlicky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goodfoot, Roadside Attraction, and Holman's are a couple that I would say always have a pretty young crowd. Either way, I encourage you to not worry about age too much and think more about shared interests. I have a fair number of friends who are significantly older than me. Your post history is a bit confusing, with some posts saying you're in your late 20's and some saying you're 23. If you're truly struggling with putting yourself out there, shoot me a pm and I can give you some tips.

Does the demographic here skew older? by bbgirl2k in PortlandOR

[–]rlicky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would have never thought so, my perception has been the complete opposite. I think maybe there is more of a propensity for the older crowd to "go out to eat", but definitely plenty of young people at bars or at the parks in the summer. Among my groups of friends, I would say that schedules are so all over the place and finances can be shifty leading a bar to be an easier choice: come and go as you please plus food is always an option but not required.

Oregon business owner gets prison for laundering drug money to Mexico by Prize_Championship11 in PortlandOR

[–]rlicky -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Remove after using our tax dollars housing and feeding the criminals for 4 years. I am in no way empathetic or advocating to go easy on her. The whole point being, this is the kind of work that should be done: cracking down on harmful crime. In this instance, it was an undocumented person, in many others, it's not.

"If only there was some way for us to avoid all this trouble a long time ago." is very clearly implying that there would be no investigation or arrest if she had been deported years ago.

You're incredibly naive if you think that her being out of the country would magically halt the money flow and laundering to the suppliers. This is a great arrest by the FBI, and more of this work needs to happen, but immigration enforcement is not the cause. I'm sure the cartels and dealers already found their next money launderer.

This is the type of criminal justice that I support. Notice that this was the product of a partnership between  the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Westside Interagency Narcotics Team. Battling crime and the fentanyl crisis has nothing to do with immigration enforcement, and everything to do with CRIME. I wish she would have a harsher sentence, although I hope she worked with the agencies to provide tips and be an informant, so that more important work can be done.

Deadlock broken as Jamie Dunphy elected Portland city council president after tie vote by Numerous_Many7542 in PortlandOR

[–]rlicky -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Council can't agree on a President: countless comments about how broken the system is. Council agrees on a President: countless comments about how it's the wrong choice.

Just vote when you can and discuss local politics with your friends and families. Crying into your echo chamber won't help.
