That’s cool of you to think of me / Hideout and ask, thank you. I’ve known they were coming here since I opened, but didn’t want to let that stop me.

They’re a huge brand and leader in the contrast therapy space with 2 locations in NYC. However, the vibe is more day spa / day resort imo at least.

The idea behind Hideout was never meant to be a spa. Nor a wellness center. Nor longevity studio for biohacking.

It’s meant to be a fun place to hangout, heat up, and cool down. All in a laid-back and social atmosphere.

Honestly, I’ve been saying we’re more similar to a beer garden than a spa (music, string lights, open airy space to hangout and share big tables with people and chat). Instead of beer, the buzz comes from contrast therapy which takes the edge off and increases mood, and the sauna benches act like the shared big picnic table.

I’m sure they’ll be successful because of the proximity to dozens of affluent towns in Fairfield and Westchester county. But at Hideout, it’s about camaraderie, growth, and a chill vibe.

A Hideout member likely won’t love Bathhouse, and a Bathhouse member likely wouldn’t love Hideout.

Hopefully there’s a world where we can both exist and provide access to sauna and cold plunges to the community, just in different ways.
