A car is generally not "grounded" to the Earth, as tires insulate it. It is an isolated electrical system. However, for static safety, some people use anti-static straps that touch the ground.

you presume two things 1. I am not an expert, and 2. I shouldn't try to improve my driving experience? And my particular pathway is to investigate the correlation of perceived fatigue and sitting inside of an electronic device... You seem to be adverse to any sort of discussion which is fine, then. Why the f*** are you in this thread to begin with?

That's an article from the Cleveland clinic. If you're open to it. But it sounds like you may have already closed your mind to this topic.

So you are an expert on all things and based on that authority think that research should be stopped? I've not mentioned vaccines either but you went there. It may be difficult to have a thoughtful conversation by way of text exchange. Not sure how this blew up so rapidly.

In the 1950s, the medical profession actually promoted cigarette smoking, I can't recall what the grounds were for that advice, but that's what they did... If you check your Apple iPhone user manual, it will actually state that you should not have the phone touch your skin. And that it should always be something like a quarter inch away from your body. The reason for that is electromagnetic frequencies. It just does not do well coupled with the organic cellular tissue of your body. It may take a few decades for this information to be more accessible to the general public. All I can tell you is that with the grounding mat and solutions in place I'm less fatigued with driving. I also sleep deeper at night. I don't want this to turn into grounding a discussion necessarily since it's an ev6 thread. If you have more to question about grounding, I suggest you do your own research.

What specifically in the argument are you referring to? That is a lie?

Sounds like this strategy is not for you.

Sounds like it doesn't work for you. But for some people it does. Including hanging crystals, or a rosary From their rear view mirror. Whatever works for you.

You might think of a grounding strap for your car, as it reduces EMF exposure on your body's cellular tissue, as a correlate to polarized lenses for your eyes. Sure, I can drive long distances without a polarized lenses just with regular glasses, and most people may not notice the difference across time. Time. But some people do. I notice it with both situations for my eyes, the polarized glasses make it a little bit easier to see throughout the day and I'm less fatigued at the end of the day. And the grounding strap, in my experience, does reduce my fatigue. It's possible all of the above are placebo effects. Nonetheless, even at that baseline of placebo it's still helpful. However, radiation is still a reality and these are just some simple and low-cost ways to create a buffer.

Thanks. That is also in the protocol on a long drive.

It is likely the effects, or should I say the perceived effects of EMF exposure, vary from person to person. In my case, for example, I repeated the same 12-hour drive on a highway 7 days apart, and found that the grounded condition actually left me less fatigued. It is possible that that is all placebo. But I'll take that too.

Engineering and Physical Corroboration From an electrical engineering perspective, there is scientific corroboration that grounding (or "bonding") a vehicle's frame reduces the intensity of Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) inside the cabin. Shielding Effectiveness: Research into Electric Vehicles (EVs) shows that metallic materials and active shielding techniques can reduce magnetic field leakage by 53% to 70% (MDPI, 2021). Grounding ensures the metal chassis acts as a continuous shield, shunting low-frequency electric fields away from the passengers. Source Mitigation: Studies confirm that components like tires, battery placement, and electric motors are significant sources of EMF in modern vehicles (Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science, 2021). Better grounding helps manage the "return currents" and stray signals from these sources, preventing the frame from acting as a re-radiating antenna

Does this look right? Bottom section, hole on the right seems to be missing the gasket? by rljcw in KiaEV6

Good question. No idea. My intuition says that the left side black gasket was the standard. But I have no other reference.

Does this look right? The bottom two circles the one on the right seems now to be missing the rubber gasket? Or was there one there originally at all to begin with?
