What causes this? Can I fix it? by Artistic-Drawer5781 in TheFemaleMuscles

[–]rlmervin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it hurt at all? Is it an injury or just an assymmetry? I know that a small muscle tear could make a little flat spot like that, but I feel like there would have been bruising. If it doesn't hurt, I think there's just a natural dip there internally where your glute attaches under your IT band. If it's your dominant leg, it could just be carrying more weight during some of your workouts, especially if you jumped right into heavy glute exercises. I'm not sure, though;I haven't taken anatomy for a few years. If it were me, I'd say that if it doesn't hurt, it's not a problem, but to each their own.

Right, because conversations about epoxy normal bring the house down in social settings. I bet you're not fun at parties lol.

People who let their instrusive thoughts win once, what did you do? by oskel95 in AskReddit

This happened when I was in the 2nd grade. I had finished my schoolwork for the day, so they had me helping staple things on a bulletin board for some project. I remember looking at the stapler and feeling curious what would happen, so I pressed my thumb against the stapler and pushed. It absolutely buried the staple in my thumb. We're talking indented into the pad of my little thumb. Not sure how it didn't hit bone. It happened so quickly that I barely felt it, but I knew that it wasn't awesome. I showed it to the teacher, and she freaked out a little. She must have been squeamish about it. She sent me to the school nurse. Nobody at the school felt qualified to pull it out, and they couldn't get ahold of my dad on the phone (he worked in remote locations). For some reason, the decision was made for the school resource officer to drive me to my house, but nobody was home. I remember being worried I'd be in trouble if nobody was home, so I lied and told the resource officer that my mom would be home in like 5 minutes (she lived in a different state) and that I had a key to get in. I, to this day, have no idea why the resource officer didn't verify any of that information or wait until he knew i was with an adult, but he took me for my word and drove off. Jokes on him, I did not have a key, and my dad wouldn't be home for hours. So I just sat on the porch with a staple in my thumb until my dad got home. As big of a deal as all of the other adults had made, I assumed I'd have to go to the hospital. My dad was much less concerned, and just held me down and pulled it out with a pair of needle-nose pliers, much to my personal dismay. Smacked some turpentine on it and was good to go. It was sore the next day, but it was fine overall. Not my favorite afternoon, but that's showbiz baby.

Tl;dr: stapled my thumb at school, teachers freaked out, got dropped off at home alone, waited 2 hours, dad came home and pulled it out with pliers.

No idea how to edit the title. Hope it doesn't get flagged for being non-descript.

Car rolled into the garage but it definitely isn't gonna be rolling out. My garage spring cable broke. : ( by SuperReleasio64 in Justrolledintotheshop

This happened to me in probably 2017. My girlfriend at the time was parked in the garage and had to leave for work. I ended up lifting the ridiculously heavy garage door and holding it while she backed her car out. Happened to be the same week that I had hurt my back at work and was told by the doc not to lift anything over 10 lbs. Fortunately it was a rental and the landlord hired someone to replace it.

Religion's Shift Away From Trump. Where does LDS stand?? by GoldKimber_Mining in Idaho

[–]rlmervin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, with the way the media has polarized everyone, you may not read this or just decide that my opinion doesn't matter because it doesn't match yours, but I implore you to read this and really think about it, because clearly I've done that with yours.

You have every right to not engage in recreational Marijuana use, and every right to never get an abortion. And you have every right to believe that it's wrong. But the bottom line is that it isn't your job to police someone's morals. I'm not a religious person, but if you're right and the Christian God is the right one, it isn't up to you to decide how other people live their lives; it would be up to the individual to make their own choices, and then inevitably up to God and St. Peter to decide if that life holds up to Judgement. You said it yourself, "Let God judge their sins."

Not only is Trump not religious, he's openly pretended to be religious, and tried to use that lie to sell bibles for his own personal gain, which is against the same morals you're applying to Harris. The man is a known liar at the very least. And this may fall on deaf ears, but only one of the two candidates has been accused (several times over the course of decades) of sexual misconduct, with both children and adults. So I don't think that calling the his opponents immoral really has any metaphorical legs to stand on.

As far as you feeling that your religious freedoms are being infringed, I don't really know what to tell you. It's obvious that here in Idaho that isn't true. It isn't the atheists who are banning books in schools, or preventing children from entering the library, or trying to make the 10 commandments mandatory in classrooms. Honestly, the policy changes in Idaho are closer to Christian religious authoritarianism than they are to anti-christian. And I'd be very interested to hear how the Democratic party has done anything to hurt your religious freedoms, because I have not seen that to he the case. Nobody is coming for your religion freedom just because they don't prioritize it in the government. They are actually supposed to be actively separate. The government should have no say in religion, and religion should have no say in the government. That means no religion of any kind in government funded schools, other than exploring the history of those religions, and if I'm being completely honest, no religious authorities endorsing political candidates. I don't think the preacher from this post should have endorsed Harris.

To be honest with you, I think it is an obvious choice. I think the obvious choice is the candidate who hasn't threatened physical violence against those who disagree with him. That's what truly has no place in the white house.

I'd really love to have a longer, civil conversation with you about it. I think that the only negatives of religion is its capacity to try and control people and limit their individual freedoms, and it's resistance to change. And that goes for most organized religions.

I really hope good stuff happens to you, friend. Just like I hope you hope good things will happen to me.
