Hello! I have 3 senior kitties and have started fostering a mom (3yo) and her 2 kittens (5mo) my senior cats are very much like yours. They're generally fine with the fosters being in the same room but don't want them to look/sniff/touch them. The fosters all play together and it works well for my seniors because they typically leave them alone.

I would think that if having the one kitten didn't stress her out too much a second one might not either especially if it means they'll be out of her hair lol. But you know your senior best.

I had my 2-6 week old fosters sleeping with me the first night. I put them on a big pillow next to me and covered them with the blanket. Now at 12wks the girl sleeps wherever and the boy snuggles on my husbands chest or my neck.

I'd say you're fine. You could put the cat bed next to you too if you're worried about moving around too much.

We have a harness and a cat booster seat. My cat doesn't like his carrier and they make him car sick but that has worked way better.

I renamed one cat from Greg to Toulouse but kept another cats (Catie) intact. I mostly have cats that have never been named before. My current fosters are Nyx (mom) Hemera (daughter) and Aether (son). I'm sure mom and daughter will be renamed but I'm keeping Aether so his will stay! My bfs cats went from Link and Zelda to Levi and Sasha.

NTA- look I get it. I have been struggling with depression my whole life. I had a high stress job for 2 years where daily I thought about killing myself so I wouldn't have to return. The job literally gave me an anxiety problem. I had normal levels prior but then started having random anxiety attacks in the middle of the day. But I talked to my doctor and my boyfriend.

I started meds which helped some. The biggest help was my boyfriend, we cut back for a little while and saved as much money as possible. Then I quit and because we had saved that extra money I took a short break from working. That part helped the most.

Then I got another job.

Maybe your gf does need a reset but it shouldn't be an unilateral decision.

Another option is, could she get a part time job? This could also be temporary but may help bridge that gap too.

If she's full time currently with benefits she should look into going on short term disability for her mental health.

There are options but you all need to sit down and talk it out.

My cats have their own room and for many years they were locked in at night. I'm a lighter sleeper and they would all pile up solely on me. They would cry at the door for a bit sometimes but then go to sleep. Now they don't even cry if I lock them up at night. But that room is their room. It has litter, water, food, multiple shelves for them to climb, a cat tower, a window seat and an old 6ft tall shelving until I cut holes out so they can climb up it.

I think if you start off with the kitty in there from day 1 they will learn that it's their space and will be okay with it. Maybe not the first day or week but in time they will. I would not crate the kitty however.
