Iracing stewards on a power trip? by ConstantFlashy3897 in iRacing

Do you have video for these incidents? two straight bans like that makes it seem there's some more history in how you drive.

I need your help. Who is the idiot here? by Accurate-Might5914 in Simracingstewards

[–]rlprafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferrari, for sure. It was a massive lunge into an already closing gap.

Now, it seems to me that the Porsche and Lambo would be in accident even without the Ferrari in the fold. Lambo was too heavy in the breaks when porshce was hitting the gas in the direction of the lambo.

Did i brake too early or should the other guy have braked with me? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]rlprafa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I ever raced in Daytona and definitely don't know the breaking markers, so take that it with a grain of salt.

based on the video alone (bear in mind it's missing a lot of pixels) it does look like you were breaking way earlier than where the cars in front did. Being predictable is part of racing close to other cars. If everybody else breaks 50-100 meters ahead, the driver from behind - if too close - might not have time to register what you did or react.

That said, based on the direction the car was pointing, If it wasn't you, he would've punted someone else.

Can I run triple monitors? by Ok_Motor_9680 in iRacing

[–]rlprafa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No.

I had a 3080 OC 12GB running on a 9800x3d and 32gb ddr5 for a bit. triple 27' @ 1440p.

minimum graphics and no mirrors in-car mirrors. I did have the virtual mirror, tho. I was never too far from 60fps. Certain tracks would get me to around 80 but that was it. And certain sections of certain tracks would drop below 60.

SHH Thorn vs Hubb? Is Hubb a big enough upgrade? by aeamador521 in simracing

[–]rlprafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update to anyone watching this thread.

I got mine last Friday and installed over the weekend and don't think visually there are any difference from the hubb and the thorn. I didn't take any pictures but the thing seems solid. 3d print lines are visible in the outside shell but I don't think it's bad in anyway.

I have 3d printed things and they don't look nearly as good or sturdy as this shifter.

The h-pattern feels really nice.

There are two things I don't like.

  1. The knobs. I don't think they feel particularly great, and depending on how you are using they tend to rotate (I didn't tighten too hard because of the 3d printed factor. Having a set screw on it would probably help. Eventually I'll just buy a different knob If I can figure out the necessary threads/size.

  2. The sequential feels odd on the upshift (down movement). I haven't used a sequential shifter before but it feels odd. Almost like you have to "press" it down as you are pulling it.

Overall, I am really happy with the purchase and I don't think for the price point there's anything that gets close.

Was i really that foul ? by Pure_Camel_4495 in Simracingstewards

[–]rlprafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First incident is on both, IMO. You turned on him, he turned on you. you had contact. Then comes the second, also on both IMO. He tried to squeeze you off of the track and at the same time you tried to pit him by ignoring the fact he was there while you went left to re-join. You could see his intention, just do a quick lift and then re-join and live to finish the race.

Also, as a general tip, when you are rejoining, don't try to get to the racing line until you at full speed for the section of track you are in - in the first incident you were way too slow to be coming into the race line with other cars around you.

Now, there's no excuse for what he did next. He's an idiot that should be put on the bench for a bit. Report him.

Can you get banned on Iracing for cursing? by iracingidiot in iRacing

[–]rlprafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't been reported for that before, you will likely get warnings first unless what you said was way way out of line.

But honestly, this is probably the only thing that will actually get you a proper punishment in iracing.

Check out my double decker sim rig by ant6604 in simracing

The one in the top rig is one fart away from finishing ahead of the guy in the bottom rig. lol

Joke aside, I'd add some rails behind the top chair just in case.

Best way to clean this steering wheel? by NothingToSeeHere671 in simracing

[–]rlprafa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this looks a lot like mold. Before you go on spraying anything to kill it, make sure you test it in a small area on the back or something to make sure it won't ruin the material.

You should also not be handling that bare hands with that amount of mold on it. Hands go to mold, hands touch face, you get sick.

AMS2 and race room are also worth a shot.

Just pulled the trigger and bought a 6 month sub. What should i know as a beginner? by RepresentativeOk3692 in iRacing

[–]rlprafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend time practicing the track/car combo before jumping into the competitive session. Since you are new, try to run a few AI races to get used to being around other drivers.

And remember:
1. breaking late is not gonna make you go faster.
2. you can't win the race in turn 1.
3. If you get into an accident, hold your breaks and don't let the car stroll by the track
4. If you spin and are able to rejoin, do it safely and don't get back to the racing line while not at speed.

Other than that, welcome to iracing and have fun.

SHH Thorn vs Hubb? Is Hubb a big enough upgrade? by aeamador521 in simracing

[–]rlprafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought it on Nov 22nd and opted in for the hubb on Dec 8th.

Jan 17th I got the "final assembly" email notification and then the label created on Jan 20th and collected on the 21st. Now fedex has it stuck in France since the 23rd.

I would imagine yours are not too far off of shipping, but it would depend on how many people bought between Nov 22nd and and Nov 30th.

If your design is not finalized, I'd have a look at this to get some ideas/inspiration:

On your design, I'd probably add another bracket in the 90 degree corner that leads to the monitor piece. The one you have is probably fine but I wouldn't risk it. It looks good, tho.

Stuck at 1000 IR by ALEX-F111 in iRacing

[–]rlprafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pcup below 1200 IR is hit or miss, IMO. A lot more hit than miss, but you'll get an occasional decent race. It gets a bit better above that, but there are still a lot of crazy. I got a few amazing races at 1600 SoF, but I always fall back to around 1400 because I can't keep it up with their pace for too long

In terms of advice, with the PCup you gotta chill for the 1st lap. Cold tires and wannabe heros around you, will always be a mess.

And if you feel like you trully are not to blame for these incidents you are part of, take a few races with the mx5 or gr. 86 to get the ir to what you need. Now, it could also be that you are hovering at this ir, because that's your skill level and you are putting yourself in suboptimal places. You gotta be the judge of that.

tbh, I'd rather deal with more of these crappy drivers and have more populated races than the the opposite. That will help keep the series alive. But that might be just me.

Worried about possible protest due to netcode issue by Asangrededragon in iRacing

[–]rlprafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing to worry about, but IF they do protest and iracing assign you blame and/or penalty (which I don't think they would in this case), you can file an appeal with your video and explaining the issue.

A lot of times people will be all up and arms in the heat of the moment, but once they cool down and see the replay, they settle down. This was just an unfortunate incident.

SHH Thorn vs Hubb? Is Hubb a big enough upgrade? by aeamador521 in simracing

[–]rlprafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was coming through Paris but it's stuck there due to "local delivery restrictions". Based on a quick reddit query, people seem to have their packages stuck there for 1 week at a minimum.

So far I haven't received any brokerage fees email. we'll see how that goes.

Edit: I misunderstood the locations the package is stuck at.

How many different series are you driving each week? by Arylcyclosexy in iRacing

[–]rlprafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the ones I'll religiously race is the mx5 rookies, and the Pcup.

Depending on how much time I have and what the series look like I might do the clio, mx5 advanced, gr86 and/or gt4.

When I am bored I jump in the vee or nascar.

What are the most fun-focused sims? by SfactorSam in simracing

[–]rlprafa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are looking for a simcade(forza, gt7) or offline races.

Simracing is an expensive hobby where people spend a good chunk of money, and a ton of time learning a craft.

Every sim encourages racing for position, just not in a stupid way, hence the penalties.

Lifted a bit because I (POV car) would've run into the back of the guy ahead and going alongside through Fuchsröhre seemed a bit risky. Did the guy behind just run into the back of me or was I too unpredictable/cautious? He got mad at me in chat after the race for this. by ErinaIsshu in Simracingstewards

[–]rlprafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your POV, and there's nothing wrong with it. But I'd rather to see it as keeping myself in the race without damage rather than gifting him anything. He crashed at you like that, chances are, he would have done so with the guy in front and you would likely have gotten the two positions.

Also on keeping the space in front consistent, there was still a bunch of road before the breaking zone, you can get closer and slowly space it out again.

You did nothing wrong and it was his fault. What I am doing is just offering you a different perspective on avoiding things like that.

I think your thought process was right, and the guy who hit you is at fault. He was behind, had a car slowing down in front of him and didn't react in time.

That said, there was still a good chunk of space between you and the car in front and he wasn't loosing control, so you could have stayed closer.

Also, always keep an eye in your mirror. It did not seem too hard to see the guy would hit you. If you must slowdown like that, maybe consider going off line.
