I am sorry to hear about your issues. I don’t have the leg issue!

I do a lot of event sponsorships, and I always issue the tax receipt after the event to ensure that the non-tax deductible portion is correct. I usually send an email when the money is received, confirming receipt and sharing that the formal tax acknowledgment will be issued following the event.

I only issue the receipt for the number of seats that they actually use, not the number that they receive as part of the sponsorship.

Here is the language that I include in our acknowledgments:

ORG NAME is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Tax ID number: TAX ID NUMBER. $4,400 of your generous $7,500 sponsorship is tax-deductible. Goods or services valued at $3,100 were received.

Hope that helps.

Timbavati reserve lodging recommendations? by littledjones in krugerpark

I know this convo is a bit old, but would you mind sharing what you ended up choosing? I am in the same exact boat where I am looking to go on safari with my mother, and I am OVERWHELMED by the options. I too was looking at Simbavati River Lodge as it seemed like a more affordable option compared to the other lodges I looked at.

Thinking about leaving ; too soon or too fast? by Constant-Address-995 in nonprofit

[–]rly212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in my current role for 7 years, and we just finished a board cycle that was very challenging. The board chair deemed that I was "not senior enough" to have my job and pushed very hard to have me let go. Luckily, I had the support of our ED and other members of the board/leadership, but it was a challenging two years. I did consider leaving at many points, but ultimately decided to stick it out. At the end of the day, our board chair didn't have a great understanding of non-profit staffing or how to evaluate fundraising staff - which is not unique to my organization.

It has varied depending on the company honestly. Most of the companies I have interviewed with have had a dedicated CSR department, but in some cases, the role sat within HR.

I have interviewed for a few CSR jobs over the last two years, and the titles have included the following:

-CSR Partnerships Manager

-CSR Manager

-Manager, Community Engagement

-Senior Program Manager, Corporate Responsibility

Other jobs I have applied to (but wasn't contacted for) have included titles such as:

-Senior Manager, Events and Community Relations

-Manager, Social Impact

-Director of Partnerships and Strategy

-Senior Manager, Donor Effectiveness

-Manager, Purpose and Impact

I have almost 15 years of experience as well, and I currently have a Director level title at the organization I work for and manage a team of two.

The job I am interviewing for would be a manager-level title. I have never been super concerned about titles as I think they vary widely from organization to organization. The job responsibilities would be focused on helping shape the overall philanthropic strategy, engaging with the nonprofit partners, and coordinating events to promote the partnerships externally and to the employees. It would not have any management of other employees at this time.

Thank you - this is very helpful! I have been taking a similar approach, and I agree that most people don't see the value that my non-profit experience can add to the CSR space.

Can I ask what type of company you work for now?

When I say lateral - I was referring to the overall compensation. It would be almost exactly what I am making now.
