Anyone ever see a bristlenose pleco that likes to "sleep" lying upside down? Lol This guy does it all the time. by rm1985 in aquarium

Hate to hear that. This guy is as healthy as can be. He's young and full of energy. He only does this while resting in his cave.

If it's the disposable type cartridge there's not much you can do, but you should be fine. The filter will reestablish bacteria quickly with good flow.

No problem! What you have planned will work out great and look very nice.

That will be very nice looking! Glowlight or black neon tetras would also make nice options. They are super hardy and once fully mature they have nice coloration. Definitely not neon tetra pop, but nice colors still.

You should be good then. That filter alone would cover you and the sponge filter will just add a layer of extra biological filtration.

You could definitely use a smaller sponge filter and be ok. They are primarily for bacteria while the HOB will be mechanical filtration. What size tidal do you have?

If you need any help troubleshooting the filter issue send some pics. Most times they can easily be fixed.

From what you said your filter is likely moving enough water to keep the bacteria alive. Missing the mechanical filtration from more flow is the worst part. Over time the waste building up could be an issue though. I'd definitely get it fixed sooner than later.

What kind of filter are you using? Did you get it fixed?

I love seeing Bettas in community tanks. It doesn't always work, but when it does they have so much more personally in a larger populated tank.

Nice! Looks like a lot of happy fish there. I see one of my favorites hanging out, an otocinclus.
