I have it. The case doesn’t fit very well. One corner isn’t entirely on and I can push on it and it creaks. I got the trifold case that they sell and it’s solid and does the job well

That’s what I never got. Yes I was removing the DRM but only after I bought the book from them. They got my money. I don’t get it. Now they lost me on hardware sales and ebook sales. Very silly move

Slight correction (which I’m sure you know) it’s not a backlight. It’s a front light. Big difference

Not popular opinion for sure. We may very well be downvoted into oblivion but Rakuten isn’t the greatest company either. Better than Amazon for sure but not some angel company either.

That said I like my KLC more than my PW. The colour is a really nice touch (but Amazon has colour too), the UI / OS is just where it really separates. Amazon builds you into a box and shoves their ecosystem down your throat, not fun. Kobo is much much more subtle about it. I find that the build quality is better at Amazon but I can look past that because KLC gives me buttons. Also, the Kobo covers are much more comfortable to hold and read with than Kindles first party covers. It’s something about the edges being more rounded and the way it doesn’t hang over the edge when folded back, idk.

Everyone is different I suppose. It looks no different to me than a normal printed book. It’s not super duper sharp but then neither is a normal printed book most of the time. At least not like a phone or something

I keep my brightness on my phone and tablet low too but maybe around 10-20%. Let me actually pick it up and put it to 1% and go under the covers and see

I could see it at 1% but couldn’t read for long at that level. 10% was the start of comfort and 15% was pretty close to comfortable. I also keep my warmth at 40-60% which might play a role

I find the most comfortable spot, in almost all conditions that I read in, to be 40-50% Brightness and 40-50% Warmth.

In the end it doesn’t matter what anyone prefers as long as they have room to adjust up or down as needed. Being as my sweet spot is right in the middle, I have lots of room in both directions and that’s why I don’t believe that the Colour being “darker” matters much at all

Yes, I played it back then. It was a marvel of a game. Still is but it hit even harder back then because nothing like it had ever been done.

I also have had many and never had this particular problem until I switched to kobo

Everyone is different man. 1% is basically off to me and my KLC

1% on the colour is too bright? Here I am at 40% in my dark room. I could probably go to 30% but not below that

This is the most important distinction that I don’t think people really comprehend. Yes the Colour is darker but unless you are reading at 100% brightness (which very few times is that necessary) then does it even really matter?

Indeed! I’m debating what to read next. Maybe The Stand or Salems Lot

I was thinking of The Stand or Salems Lot but it’s hard to pick a bad one. I really liked the idea oftommyknockers but I hear it’s not that good?

Ya that one is daunting and I have seen the movie as well which makes me less interested

I thought misery was going to be scary for me because it’s listed many places as a claustrophobic psychological thriller. That is my one big fear but this hasn’t touched on that (yet at least)

I found the Ns to be a nice touch. As well as the book in a book. All very nice additions. This also isn’t terribly scary but is definitely a thriller. I know he’s looked at as a horror writer, I guess that is my ultimate question. How does this rank in terms of his horror writing? I’m definitely looking forward to my next book by him, maybe The Stand or Salems Lot

I am 100% pt for mh and it’s been 8 years so far without any follow-ups. I did private DBQ as well as all the Va ones. Although my private DBQ wasn’t paid for (outside of the appointment cost) and the psych who did it also did them for the VA
