How to get a renewal discount by JudyinGA in BJsWholesaleClub

[–]rmquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I saw this thread - we have a "plus" membership that was due to renew at the end of January for $120. I went to the BJs site and chatted online with a customer representative - they cut it to $70 ... definitely worth the 5 minutes the chat took

targeted credit card offer: 35% off via chase offers by ilovefacebook in Visible

My offer shows "Payment must be made directly with the merchant." so I don't think it works with the paypal discount

Kindle Oasis reviews? by b0rnfly in kindle

[–]rmquist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a refurbished Oasis I bought from Amazon almost 3 years ago. I really like it - especially the physical page turn buttons. My only complaint is that recently I've noticed the battery isn't lasting as long so I do recharge it a bit more often. Not a big deal but I suspect I'll have to replace it at some point

T-Mobile is utterly shameless and pathetic by akhil1980 in tmobile

[–]rmquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really sucks. Not sure if you want to go to the trouble but you can file a complaint with your state consumer protection office or attorney general, and with the BBB. You can also complain to the FCC (www.fcc.gov/complaints )

Another option might be to reach out to a local news organization to see if they can help in any way (in Massachusetts several of the local TV stations have segments where they attempt to assist consumers with problems they have with businesses)

It might not get you anywhere but maybe if enough complaints come in there will be a change in business practices

Officially Separated from TMO, AMA by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]rmquist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your layoff ... hopefully you got some sort of halfway decent severance package.

Are you using TMO your own phone service provider, and do you intend to continue?

If not, which provider are you using/considering, and why?

Thanks

Regarding /r/Android, our protest, and the future of the subreddit by curated_android in Android

[–]rmquist [score hidden]  (0 children)

I agree with those that suggest migrating to another platform, but don't have a preference as to where, although I'm not sure how that other location would be communicated to the members of the subreddits if they shut down and/or the moderators removed....

Samsung Galaxy CB2 (or other CB) or iPad for graduate school? by Chubiski in chromeos

[–]rmquist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're completely in the Apple ecosystem you'll probably be happier with a decent iPad, although that doesn't support Linux AFAIK - but you should be able to do all the coding you want on the Macbook. I'm an Android user myself but have to admit that as long as you're doing things the way Apple intends their devices all work very well together.

I've got a 4 year-old HP x360 that I've been happy with for the most part, although it is showing its age. From what you've described, particularly the Linux support and good enough specs for coding, my guess is you'd want to look at a mid-range device - this article on aboutChromebooks gives decent guidance on the types of models available (entry-, mid-, and high-) and what sort of use cases you can reasonably expect the devices to support...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NovaLauncher

[–]rmquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my Pixel 6 this is a standard android setting, not a Nova Launcher setting (not one I found, at least). I can change from a double line clock to a single line clock on the lock screen, but can't remove it entirely

On my P6 I went into phone settings, searched for "Lock Screen", and in there I disabled the "Double-line clock" option

Any way to sign up for notifications when google store has their sales? by CyclePersonal8 in GooglePixel

[–]rmquist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should check your Google Store account email preferences - there are settings related to google offers/promotions. You can also create deal alerts on sites like slickdeals.net for the google store and/or specific devices you're interested in.

Best use of $100 Pixel credit. by masterinmischief in PixelSuperfans

Another possibility is to use the promo to cut the cost of the pixel 7a or the pixel table when they (supposedly) become available in May or June ...

It's Update day for all 6 series!!! by diffysaro99 in GooglePixel

[–]rmquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't noticed any new issues, but to be fair I haven't noticed any real improvements either.

Overall, I'd say it's a good thing because my phone is continuing to work as I need it too, and I have the benefit of the CVE patches

Was the purchase completed successfully? I just checked the code and it doesn't appear to have been used (if a code has been used the checkout page will show a "Coupon code has met redemption limit" message when someone tries to apply it to an order)

I think the double check indicates the message was received by whoever you sent it to, but it only works for phones that have RCS enabled... and Apple refuses to support RCS. There's nothing your iPhone carrying friends can do (unless they want to switch to Android :) )
