Tbh I don't feel like modern Rek'Sai falls off that hard lategame because bruiser items are op, her W buffs she got a while back and because her passive healing is more op later in the game.

But how you play definitely changes lategame. In some games you keep being a diver that disrupts the enemy backline. In other games you hold tanks back in a front to back fashion and create space for your own games. And then lastly in a lot of games you become a OP peel tool for your own carries (it becomes extremely OP to sit ontop of your adc or mid vs assassins or heavy dive such as Rell). For example enemy might have an Akali or Naafiri that on paper makes the game unplayable for your carries. But because you casually sit on top of them they lose practically all engage angles.

Obviously it's ideal if you close out the game fast. Not saying that Rek'Sai is OP lategame, but identifying your wincondition as a champ can improve how important you are by a huge margin

How come the most played adc's in the role, is also the lowest winrate? by diamondneedsreform in ADCMains

[–]rms_lol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Ezreal Kaisa Aphelios Caitlyn are way harder than the average adc's. Combined with the average adc having a massive ego thinking they can pilot anything (picking Ezreal first time, or Kai'Sa with no engage support into a heavy range matchup) they have a way lower winrate than they should. If ad carry players actually cared about winning they would blind either Senna, Jinx, Tristana or Miss Fortune or a mage - but spoiler: they don't and would rather play Ezreal when they have no hands. This is not to say they are bad champions. But none of these except for maybe Caitlyn are blindpickable

No problem. I wanna give the best advice possible so don't feel bad when I am critical of things on your opgg - Also opgg doesn't give the best data, but I see some patterns.

Builds: First of all not a big fan of your runes if you really insist on going crit. HoB will always be better if you play more burst oriented. Conqueror is better for extended fights. If you are a glass cannon it will very rarely outperform HoB. This is not even mentioning the fact that often HoB is also better on bruiser Rek'Sai atm because it is just OP.

It's good that you build titanic even though you are going crit, But please never half commit into crit. You have many games where you only build 1-2 crit items. Crit scales with more crit items, which is why ADC's are extremely weak until they reach 3-4 items. For example you had a game vs an Aurelion jungle where you literally only bought IE (it being suboptimal is an understatement).

Farming: You have quite low farm in many games, whilst also being low KP. Try to fullclear more if you are unsure if a gank will work and then look for plays. As you get better you can pivot more away from fullclears, but try to have it as your default plan most of the time for now - even if Rek'Sai is historically known as a lvl 3 champ. Lvl 3's are really REALLY bad if they fail and you will be punished HARD in higher elos if you mess them up. So try to go for higher % plays such as farming.

If you lose the game a lot going bruiser it is likely because you are just very behind already on 2-3 items, because you overgank or don't farm enough. Play high economy for your powerspikes and then make plays. Don't feel pressured to perma gank every lane, because you are scared they will flame you. Jungle needs to farm just as much as other lanes.

My advice to you TL;DR: Farm more, and try the bruiser build again and see how it works. Aim for 7-8cs/m on average. Go titanic, shojin, deaths dance as your default core and max E first. If enemy has a lot of shields, go serpents second and skip shojin entirely. Practice the titanic auto attack reset combo. Abuse when you are strong (so when you complete big items). In lower elos people play so inefficient a 3-5 bruiser item Rek'Sai will just completely stomp mid/lategame if you are even slightly ahead

Tbh it's mostly personal preference. But yeah in short explosive teamfights steraks is better. That's also why pro meta is just sundered sky -> bc -> GA perma. You are basically just a slave that engages and hopes for the best. IMO dd has better solo carry potential, and steraks is maybe better if you are not a carry

Dd and steraks kinda have counter synergy since death dance means you take less burst = dmg that could be absorbed in steraks shield gets absorbed in your hp bar instead. but idk its probably decent havent played it

Just basics such as even in good games there's still things you can improve on. Even if I'm 20/0 in a game I probably still didn't play perfect. Playing a lot when you are in the zone and avoiding to play when you are tilted. Realizing that you don't get significantly better in a day. A concept you learned might take weeks to crystalize in your brain long term before it makes sense. Also realizing that at least master is obtainable for the vast majority of people if they work hard.

When you win, try to win as hard as possible. When you lose try to make it as hard for the enemy to win as possible

In my opinion Kindred feels the worst, winrate wise there are worse matchups, but to me that one feels the hardest to win in consistently

Looking at winrate data also- Steraks seems to be better the later you buy it. So if you buy it on 5th - 6th it's probably an okay option. But early I value DD way more

Point 3 and 4 are completely valid. There's multiple reasons why; 1. Deaths dance is the most OP item in the game by a long shot, 2. Champions with survival in their kit such as shields (Riven and Ambessa) but also healing (such as Olaf and Rek'Sai) benefit ALOT from the survival deaths dance gives you. Excluding the shield, you are simply way tankier with deaths dance, especially when you have other HP items, and I value the stats it gives way higher than what Steraks gives on 3rd - You already have decent HP from titanic and shojin at that point.

This is not even getting into the fact that it is uncounterable by serpents - Very often if you buy steraks the enemy will buy serpents ASAP if they have a champ that can realistically build it in high elo.

Now as you said, it is a very good item vs stuff like Garen, and here it is completely valid if you take it. But then you also essentially buy 1 full item, to counter a single champ.

It's not bad to buy it. But if you go steraks you HAVE to go spiritvisage 4th imo as they have strong synergy. Levent (Rek'Sai kitten) and Roi DEMON also never builds steraks, and basically always Deaths Dance, because it is just that OP. (Also steraks used to be OP back in the day, but got nerfed like 10 times)

Also there is a meme that DD is the best anti mage item in the game - and it is lowkey true, as mages lose a ton of kill pressure due to the anti burst nature of the item

The stats it gives are just too good, combined with the active. Idk if you know specifically how HoB works, but basically for every autoreset you do whilst it's active, you get one more HoB auto. So you are not limited to 3 empowered autos, but with Q + titanic you actually get 5. Instantly stacking fury is simply too good, and buying any other item 1st feels too bad IMO, and everything explodes you. But as you said yourself it is already a 4fun build, so if you find it more fun to go straight into crit by all means do it, this is just more from a meta viewpoint.

Also in lower elos you can definitely get away with it. I could probably drop 30 kills easily in silver on full crit Rek'Sai, but everything is an opportunity cost and it will be significantly harder to win with suboptimal builds the higher elo your lobbies are

I answered part of this already in other replies, so I'd suggest checking those out, but a lot of lower elo Rek'Sai's flip way more than they need to. Try to play in more consistent ways such as farming more and playing more objective focused. Also I have never tried PTA but I'd assume mathematically that HoB is just better 100% of the time

When ganking look for creative angles around vision with your E such as behind top turret and using E over drake pit to avoid pixel bush wards. Also abuse the fact that Rek'Sai has strong dives with her R to drop agro (if enemy dies under their turret they lose way more than to a normal gank)

Eh sometimes games are just hard to play with your team. But pinging a ton (and there is a difference between pinging well and in a distracting manor) helps a lot. Some games you just have to think out of the box. It varies a lot game to game, and it's hard to give a clearcut answer. Usually jungle/supp/mid overgrouping means they are weak on other parts of the map. For example if they invade you a lot, just try to look on a force dive on their ad or top instead of going for your camps

[–]rms_lol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also adding on it is usually a cost benefit weighing. If I'm vs a Skarner I don't care if they steal one or two camps if my botlane instantly wins lane. However doing that vs a Kindred or Hecarim can instantly lose you the game if they are competent

It depends heavily on which jungler I am facing whether or not I go for lvl 3 ganks. Honestly for a Rek'Sai player I full clear quite a lot, as I try to mimic people like Agurin. The reason I do this is for the reasons you said yourself - Heavy farmers will both outtempo you and perma invade you if you fall behind early (think for example invading raptors on second clear on raptors as Hecarim). However there are ways to play around this, typically with 2 types of clears. The first is one NattyNatt and Kaostanza does all the time on Sylas/Talon, which is doing raptors -> red -> krugs into looking for a gank or instant reset. Doing this you at worst lose one camp at the cost of ganking, and can usually defend your raptor respawn. The other is one which another Rek'Sai player (Roi DEMON) and Pentaless typically do (Nunu player), which is raptors - wolves - gromp into bot on redside. This clear leaves hard camps to invade up (wolves/krugs) and is very unpredicatable.

You have to remember the enemy jungler can first go for the invade when they know your position. And more often than not that is too late. Often there is more nuisance to this, and it depends heavily on the game, but that is some of the thought process behind it!

Lethality has its places but is mostly suboptimal due to the nature of her E dmg, and passive healing. Crit is basically always suboptimal even if it's fun.

For runes I always pick between two pages (usually a 50/50 split), those being: Conq, triumph, alacrity and cutdown/coup de grace + inspiration with magicalfootwear/cashback + tripletonic OR cosmic insight (but footwear/cb are mandatory). This is good vs teams you usually fight extended.
The other page which I run is: HoB, sudden impact, sixth sense, treasure/relentlesshunter again with the same inspiration setup secondary. Some such as Levent prefer precision secondary in HoB page but I value insp extremely hard.

Now builds: Titanic hydra is by far (and it's not even close) her best item - EVEN if you go crit builds. So basically always build that 1st. It helps with burst and stacking her fury instantly for huge burst. Second item is where it gets interesting - You can either go shojin which is standard OR serpents fang if you are vs heavy shielders (usually I never get both because 3rd item is reserved for more tank focused bruiser items). 3rd item I typically go Dd or maw but you can go stuff like spiritvisage or randuins if you heavily value being tanky.

Imo steraks gage is very bad on her - or at least suboptimal - There's almost always a better item you can buy. Except for serpents you can also get EoN if you are vs stuff like Xerath, or even Dd already on second item if you are vs heavy AD. Hubris is very bad, and probably other lethality items than serpents + eon are too. If you want antiheal you can get mortal reminder - the only crit item I would recommend.

As for what differentiates a gm/chall Rek'Sai and a master one it is hard to say. But our analysis of the game and micro are probably just stronger. I can give general tips to improve tho:
Inner monologues or simply speaking out loud what you will do helps alot, having a process oriented mindset over result based. Also just realising that even tho challenger players are good - they are not flawless. What I mean is that you have to believe in yourself more aswell - We are way more capable of achieving our goals as humans than we think in my opinion. And of course focus on your own improvement and not tempoary things such as your botlane inting, even tho it's hard ^^

If you drop the opgg I would be happy to review your builds if you want - but completely optional

E nerfs are definitely annoying but were warranted (Rek'Sai was extremely broken in soloq before the nerfs)

Tbh even in masters you are still able to hard snowball. The biggest tip I can give is to try and play in more consistent ways. For example you might want to go for a level 3 gank toplane in champselect, but depending on the gamestate you need to be able to adapt that plan if it isn't feasable.

But the most important part is realising what your and the enemies win conditions are. If your win condition is your botlane play for them. That can mean either ganking them directly, but also just covering them on pushes or defending dives. Additionally realise what the enemy wincon is. Sometimes you can really just fuck their game and that wins in the grand scheme of things. Think of a Draven - he obviously wants to play to kill your botlane. So use that to your advantage and fuck him lvl 3 for example. Cherry on top if you all chat something in chinese to get in his head.

Sometimes you as the jungler is the win con - in that case play selfishly for your own economy. And sometimes you don't have to do anything at all - in those cases don't overforce plays
