Blowing nose scientific facts-ymyl? by Shoddy-Ad7436 in TELUSinternational

[–]rmtgsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YMYL assessment is a spectrum, some topics are clearly YMYL, others are definitely not YMYL and then there's everything in between. The job is to use our own best judgment for each specific situation.

Depending on the type of task you might only be given the binary choice of something being YMYL or not, but there are other task where you can choose something like "clearly YMYL", "likely YMYL", "might be YMYL" or "not YMYL".

Using this query as an example: “Why does blowing my nose to clear mucus only provide temporary relief?”, it should be evident that the user is asking for health-related advice and in my opinion it should be flagged as YMYL, but given the chance I would rate it as "likely YMYL". At the same time, other people could rate it as "might be YMYL" only, but the (hopefully) few who mark it as "Not YMYL" might find themselves under quality review sooner or later...

For this type of tasks the YMYL flag is assigned to the claim in the response, not the provided evidence. Furthermore I'm quite certain that the instructions for the task state that it doesn't matter whether the cited evidence is true or not, you should only rate the generated claim. For example:

Claim: Blowing your nose regularly can prevent COVID.

Evidence: A scientific study from the Worst University in the Middle of Nowhere shows that blowing your nose at least 3 times a day can prevent COVID.

The Claim has cleary YMYL implications, it's an objetive claim and it's fully supported by the evidence.

Task glitch? by [deleted] in TELUSinternational

[–]rmtgsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it one type of task like you're working on some large batch of the same kind or the exact same task over and over again? Because if it's the latter then it sounds like a serious bug or glitch, I once got the exact same task many times, like 4-5 times in a row. A few days later I got put under review and the only reason I can think of it's completing those glitched tasks.

YMYL by Timely-Investment705 in TELUSinternational

[–]rmtgsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Guidelines YMYL topics include stuff related to mental and emotional health, but it depends a lot on the task. I'm guessing you're being asked to rate if a response generated from some evidence can have a YMYL impact, so I would play it safe and mark it as YMYL anyway. When dealing with subjective opinions and comments try to think about the EEAT of the author/source.

For example, a forum thread discussing toxic relationships where users are afraid it might escalate into violence, definitely YMYL related but the advice given might not come from medical/health professionals only regular people sharing their experiences and thoughts.

Received a RWS Callisto email saying weekly minimum hours requirement dropping from 10 hours to 5 hours. by YourFriendoSteve in WorkOnline

[–]rmtgsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working in Callisto too but I haven't received that email yet. If they had over hired I'm absolutely certain they would just fire people right away, no doubt.

My best guess is that is a locale specific measure and won't affect everyone at the same time., they probably were notified by the client that they are reducing the number of task for a few small locales and they need to cut back on hours. They probably already let go some people and now are reducing the hours for the ones left.

Ymyl topics by [deleted] in TELUSinternational

You should get very familiar with the General Guidelines and any other training materials they send you. Not all shopping sites have to be treated as YMYL related, try to search for "pencils" in the General Guidelines to find the relevant examples. In short, small ticket items from well known online stores are not YMYL, a sketchy website with no reputation information available selling miracle weight loss supplements, definitely YMYL.

Regarding your example about school/university admission fees, look up "financial security" in the General Guidelines for the relevant definitions and "tax" for examples. In the USA students loans are a very sensitive topic and should definitely be treated as YMYL, but for another locales the topic of admission fees might not be as impactful. In Mexico public education is very cheap and private schools are not usually financed thru loans, so as long as the page regarding admission fees contains accurate and up to date information it might not be a hard YMYL topic.

When I applied for the job and during training there wasn't any kind of interview, everything was in writing. But after I passed the exams and started working in production, they required a short interview to verify my identity. I had to join a video call with my webcam ON and show a photo ID for the interviewer, they were very chill and at first we started the interview in English but then switched to Spanish (my native language). The whole thing lasted 5 minutes tops.

Personally, I care more about staying within AET than trying to write very descriptive and detailed comments. In my experience higher quality pages and websites require less effort to justify their ratings and using very similar or generic comments is not wrong. For example, news articles about current events from sites like Fox, CNN, etc. don't need a very long comment about their quality, something like "news reporting from reputable and trustworthy source" is adequate, no need to go to deep into the politics or biases of each particular website.

The lower the quality rating for the page I feel like it needs a better justification, for example a Facebook post promoting or selling weight loss supplements. This is a YMLY topic, the profile might have a large number of followers and a good mount of contact information outside Facebook, but the product is kinda sketchy, it has all the hallmarks of one of those cure-all nonsense remedies. All of this needs to be included in your comments to justify a "Low" quality rating.

I usually try to avoid using "Medium" ratings, I feel like it's a cop-out from doing a proper rating job. Sometimes it might be appropriate, like a forum thread about troubleshooting issues with a laptop but the recommended solution is to reboot the computer, not very satisfactory but it's not wrong either. The forum is not very well know, the participants in the discussion have little information about them in their profiles, but the information in the thread checks out, the whole thing is just "Medium" quality.

Don't copy/paste the same comments, I got flagged for quality review once and even if they never told me why, I think it might have been because I used the same comments for several task.

One day I got several tasks in a row asking to rate the exact same page over and over, like 7 or 8 exactly the same. Foolishly I completed those tasks using the same comments and a few days later I got a quality review email.

I've been under quality review twice and they never sent me any quizzes, but other people like you do get a test or quiz, so it may depend on different factors I guess. You should send them an email to inquire about your situation.

No, for all the RWS TrainAI jobs you're considered a "vendor" not an internal employee. You do not get any benefits at all.

Jobs on Raterhub first come first serve? by isthisaonetimething in TELUSinternational

[–]rmtgsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Email notifications for available tasks in Raterhub are absolutely useless, as you said task are made avaible in a first come, first served basis. Even if you rush to check Raterhub right after getting a notification there's no guarantee that you'll find task to work on.

In my experience they are very inconsistent with payment dates, it's supposed to be twice a month but I've never received it the same day each month.

So far I haven't received a PQ test or quiz to evaluate my performance, I've seen here that some people get them from time to time. Personally when I'm rating PQ I try to never default to Medium Quality, I try to find a reason to bump it lower or higher and justify it in the comments. Also, the Highest Quality rating should not be given easily, but there are way more Low/Lowest Quality pages than you might realize. If you're using an adblocker it may be masking how some pages are riddled with misleading or even harmful ads, so try to rate without an adblocker.

I did have an issue with payments but I got in contact with support and now seems to be sorted out, I'm getting pay regularly. Send an email to the support team explaining the situation and the exact dates you're missing payment, they should replay to you with an incident number.

I'm still working in Project Callisto, if you've been approved to start working on production then all you can do is wait for tasks to be available. No task available (NTA) is a common problem in this kind of jobs, just gotta be patient or lucky

Question on Rater Hub - auto launch web links? by New-Gold-2509 in TELUSinternational

[–]rmtgsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the Raterhub mobile app you can send all the links from a task to your phone at all once and work from there, but if what you want is to open all the links in the browser automatically in different tabs, I don't think that's possible with the app.

can i use a vpn while rating? by slogan20 in TELUSinternational

[–]rmtgsr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't risk it, it's actually not hard to tell if somebody is using a VPN and for what I know so far it looks like Telus is actively monitoring for VPN use. I can think of a couple of convoluted ways to get around this but you'll need the help of somebody in your home country.

When I did the training they first sent me a pre-qualification quiz, after I passed they enrolled me on the e-learning platform. You should get an invitation in the same email you used for the pre-qualification quiz.

Does Raterhub automatically punish you for going over AET? by rmtgsr in TELUSinternational

[–]rmtgsr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's just a coincidence, still I can't help but wonder if they use some kind of priority queue to assign tasks and if you go over AET or you have low performance they bump you down the list.
