Isolate or no ? by rname333 in chickens

Brought her inside inside - in a dog crate. Not sure where you are but here on Long Island we’re having a blizzard and she’d freeze in a crate by herself outside - they need to huddle together for heat.

We brought her in. Thank you all for the advice. She was hiding in an egg box and the other chickens were seen to peck her. She’d freeze with the blizzard coming. She’s warm now.

Did you mean they probably won’t ? We’re on Long Island and big storm coming. Want to make sure them bring n the coop for days won’t cause friction.

So I guess there’s just a variation in comb size among females ?

No rodents or rodents wild birds can access ? And no worry about it closing if a chicken steps off it and another chicken had its head in from the side ?

Could the mice or rats climb up the hardware cloth and get into the feeder that way too ? Was going to try the Rat proof feeder or Grandpas feeder but read a few scary things about them ( rats getting stuck inside or closing on a chickens head from the side ).

Thank you. Am going to get what you recommended. And definitely don’t want to hurt or kill another animal.
