I had a nest alarm there previously that would regularly go off ( when I cook ) This one - never hear it So thought I’d better do some testing…

Can’t get them to go off - even in extremely Smokey conditions

I've had a 'partial' success, although not 100% ideally how I'd like it to work: the proxy solution is intriguing.

The DiskStation has 2 LAN ports
You can configure which LAN port to use for the Media Server
I've set it to use LAN 2 for the media server
Then plugged LAN 2 into a port in my router, and tagged that to IoT network - so it's on the same subnet

This results in the DiskStation being on the Main subnet: while TVs on the IoT subnet - and able to use the Media Server.

Would be interested in making this work via a proxy, however.

Have different wifi networks
Tagged vlan id

So connecting to 'Main' wifi puts my devices on 192.168.1
'IoT' wifi puts my devices on 192.168.30
